On September 5, 2024, Chase increased the welcome bonus offered by the Ink Business Unlimited® Credit Card to $900. New cardholders who sign up and spend at least $6,000 on their card in the first 3 months after account opening will receive a $900 cash back bonus. This is an increase of $150, as the Ink Business Unlimited was previously offering a welcome bonus of $750.

The Ink Business Unlimited doesn’t charge an annual fee and offers 1.5% cash back on all purchases (as well as 5% cash back on Lyft rides through March 2025). On its own, the Ink Business Unlimited card isn’t all that impressive. However, it’s a great complement to other cards in the Chase business lineup.

Plus, the cash back that you’ll earn from the Ink Business Unlimited’s welcome offer is in the form of 90,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards bonus points. So, if you have either the Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card, Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card or Chase Sapphire Reserve®, you can then transfer the points that you earn from the Ink Business Unlimited’s welcome offer to one of these other cards and use those points through Chase’s transfer partners. By doing so, you can get far more than $900 in value out of those points.

How the $900 Welcome Offer Works

Small business owner using the Chase Ink Business Unlimited card

In order to earn the new $900 welcome bonus offered by the Chase Ink Business Unlimited, you can apply for this card online. You have to be a small business owner in order to be approved for this card. However, the definition of a “small business owner” is very broad in this case and includes freelancers, gig economy workers and independent contractors.

If you are approved for this card, you’ll need to make at least $6,000 in eligible purchases in the first 3 months from the date of account opening in order to receive the welcome offer. This does not include balance transfers, cash advances, travelers checks, foreign currency, money orders, wire transfers, lottery tickets, casino gaming chips, race track wagers, any checks that access your account, interest or unauthorized or fraudulent charges.

Once you’ve completed the qualifying transactions, it can take six to eight weeks for the bonus to post to your account.

The $900 will be received in the form of 90,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points. These points can be redeemed for cash back, gift cards, travel and other purchases through the Chase Ultimate Rewards program.

If you only have the Ink Business Unlimited card, your Chase Ultimate Rewards points will always be worth 1 cent per point regardless of how you redeem them. However, If you also have a Chase Sapphire Reserve, Chase Sapphire Preferred or Ink Business Preferred card, you can transfer those points between cards and spend those 90,000 points through Chase’s transfer partners (in which case it’s possible to get far more than 1 cent per point in value).

The Bottom Line

Welcome bonuses are one of the best ways to rack up a large balance of credit card points quickly. So, with the Ink Business Unlimited recently raising its welcome offer from $750 to $900, this card just got much more attractive.

However, if you’re planning on signing up for the Ink Business Unlimited, we’d recommend pairing this card with another Chase card that has access to Chase’s transfer partners (which include either the Chase Sapphire Reserve, Chase Sapphire Preferred or Ink Business Preferred card). That way you can use the 90,000 Chase points from the Ink Business Unlimited with transfer partners and potentially get far more than $900 worth of value from them.

Plus, since the Ink Business Unlimited earns 1.5% cash back on all purchases, it’s a good card to use for purchases that don’t qualify for elevated category spending bonuses with your other Chase card.
