The Big Picture

London? Summer? First Class? Low taxes and fees? You might call it crazy, but we are here to deliver.

You can fly on American Airlines first class to London next summer and fall for only 72,000 AAdvantage miles one-way per person. Multiple dates have availability for at least 2 passengers. Taxes and fees are low, only $5.60 per passenger.

If you’re looking for availability, you’ll only find it as a web special with married segments. This means you won’t find it from JFK-LHR directly, but every airport I checked from Miami to Los Angeles showed the same availability.

As a web special, you can’t change dates but you are able to cancel and you won’t find these seats available through any partners. You can transfer Hyatt or Marriott to AA, but the transfer rates aren’t very good.

American has gotten rid of cancellation fees, so you shouldn’t pay any fee to reinstate your miles in case you do need to cancel.

American doesn’t have the flashiest first class product, but the cost is only marginally more than the 57,500 you would need for business class and certainly will be more comfortable for your flight across the pond. You would also get access to AA’s flagship first dining at the lounge in New York (if it is open at the time of travel).

Some routes on some dates will show up a bit lower, but 72,000 is the most common price we’re seeing. There is web special availability for returns as well, so search round-trip to complete your trip. Taxes and fees on the return flights are a bit higher – around $300 – than on the outbound flights where you can expect to pay $5.60 to $11.20, depending on connections.

There is a lot of availability. Seriously, check out the dates below where there are 2 seats available.
