The $200 online cash rewards bonus comes after $1,000 in purchases in the first 90 days, which is within reach with everyday spending. While it's not technically part of the welcome bonus, you also get a boosted rate in your choice category for the first year. That makes this an easy offer to earn without changing how you spend.

Our Take
The Bank of America® Customized Cash Rewards credit card is a simple cash back card with one real hook: you choose your own bonus category. It’s a solid everyday card, but it isn’t a travel card. For most 10xTravel readers it works best as a supporting card rather than the center of your wallet.
Start with the trade-offs. The higher rates only apply to the first $2,500 in combined purchases each quarter, across your choice category and grocery stores and wholesale clubs together. After that you earn 1%, which is also what you get on everything else. The boosted 6% rate in your choice category is a first-year perk that settles at 3% afterward, and a flat-rate card that earns 2% on everything can beat this one if your spending is spread out. And because it earns cash back instead of points, you won’t get transfer partners or outsized travel redemptions.
Here’s where it pays off. You earn 3% in a category of your choice, from a short list that includes gas and EV charging, online shopping, dining, travel, drug stores and pharmacies, and home improvement and furnishings, and you can change it once each calendar month. You also earn 2% at grocery stores and wholesale clubs, with nothing to manage. There’s no annual fee, cash back doesn’t expire as long as your account stays open, and BofA Rewards™ members earn more cash back.
This card fits if you want straightforward cash back, have one category you spend heavily in each quarter, and also shop at grocery stores or wholesale clubs. Skip it if you want travel rewards, or if you regularly spend past the quarterly cap, since everything beyond it earns 1%. If you’re collecting points for travel, a transferable points card will usually do more.
