Overview of the Fairfield by Marriott Bali South Kuta
The Fairfield by Marriott Bali South Kuta Hotel features 71 beautiful bedrooms and offers luxury accommodations to guests who stay here. The hotel is located in Kuta, which is about 1,300 feet away from Tuban Beach and within walking distance to the airport. Overall, the well-appointed rooms here feature air conditioning and flat-screen TVs.
Generally, the hotel feels more like a small boutique establishment than a mega-resort. You can relax fully and enjoy yourself. Although most people book adventures while in Bali, it’s possible to get the relaxing beach life here as well.
Overall, I would say that this hotel does not focus on a particular type of person. It’s ideal for couples, partiers and families. Whether you like peace and quiet or a lively atmosphere, you can get both. Plus, the hotel is close to the attractions, and it’s easy to get around.
How I Booked the Marriott Bali South Kuta
I booked a Superior Guest Room 1 King City View for about $51 for one night during a promotion where Marriott was offering two elite night credits for every night stayed on a cash rate. It’s often possible to book this hotel with points starting at around 16,000 Bonvoy points per night.
That means it’s possible to book this hotel with the various free night award certificates offered by Marriott co-branded credit cards, but it’s generally a better idea to book with points because this hotel is priced relatively low.
Marriott points can be earned with the following credit cards:
- Marriott Bonvoy American Express Card
- Marriott Bonvoy Bevy™ American Express® Card
- Marriott Bonvoy Bold® Credit Card
- Marriott Bonvoy Boundless® Credit Card

Fairfield by Marriott Bali South Kuta Location

The Fairfield by Marriott Bali South Kuta is located within walking distance from the I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport. | Photo by Charlie Lewis
This hotel is found in the South Kuta neighborhood of Bali and is located at JI. Wana Segara. It’s quite accessible and is 0.9 mile from the city center and within walking distance from I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport. The easiest way to travel is by Grab, a ride-hailing mobile app that is similar to Uber. The staff can help you book a ride if needed.
Best Parts of the Fairfield by Marriott Bali South Kuta
I enjoyed many things about the Fairfield by Marriott Bali South Kuta Hotel. Here are the top four:
- Various amenities: We had access to amenities galore, both in the room and on the property. There’s a pool, free internet access, a fitness center, a bar and meeting rooms. In the rooms, you experience a private balcony, air conditioning, housekeeping and a shower. You’ll also enjoy cable television, but I don’t think you’ll be in the room that much.
- Great restaurants nearby: Dery’s Restaurant is a casual sports bar that serves Western and Asian specialties. An on-site bar/lounge located on the rooftop also serves light meals and excellent cocktails and beers.
- Gorgeous designs: When you walk into the foyer, there’s a beautiful water and grass feature and tons of seating.
- Walking distance from the airport: We specifically chose to stay at this hotel for our first night in Bali because it was a 10-minute walk away from the airport. Traffic in Bali is often bad, so this allowed us to get straight to our accommodation.
Fairfield by Marriott Bali South Kuta Drawbacks
Although there were countless things to love about the Fairfield by Marriott Bali South Kuta Hotel, I will point out that I encountered a few drawbacks.
- Fitness center: Although the fitness center includes a workout room and gym, it’s quite small. I’d say only a few people could work out comfortably. Although it’s multi-functional, this seems to be an afterthought.
- Water pressure: The water pressure from the showers wasn’t that great, but it did get the job done.
Getting to Fairfield by Marriott Bali South Kuta
The Fairfield by Marriott Bali South Kuta was the first hotel we visited on our trip, therefore we came straight from the Bali Airport. It took only about 10 minutes for the journey on foot, and it was easy to get there.
For those not wanting to walk with luggage, it’s easy to call a ride through Grab. Make sure you have downloaded the app regardless because it’s one of the best ways to get around Bali.
Check-In

The lobby area of the Fairfield by Marriott Bali South Kuta is gorgeous. | Photo by Charlie Lewis
I booked a superior room with one king bed and a city view for one night. The cost was about $51 per night with the Marriott friends and family rate.
In fact, I booked the room with my boyfriend’s account because he has Marriott Platinum Elite status. Because of his tier, we were upgraded to the junior suite, which would have cost about $95 per night, and we also got complimentary breakfast.
Check-in was easy. We arrived and were greeted. Someone asked to help with our bags, but we had just walked from the airport so we didn’t need help the rest of the way to our room. When we got to the service desk and gave our names, the desk staff remembered and later greeted us by name.
The superior room is 323 square feet and includes wireless internet, a mini-fridge, flat-screen TV and an alarm clock. Alternatively, the junior suite is 463 square feet, consists of a living/sitting area and also comes with the other features found in the superior room. On top of that, you get 24-hour room service as a junior suite guest.
Overall, my first impression of the hotel was that it was relaxing and featured everything I’d imagine from a Bali hotel.
The Room at Fairfield by Marriott Bali South Kuta

We loved our junior suite upgrade at the Fairfield by Marriott Bali South Kuta. | Photo by Charlie Lewis
I must say that the vibe I received from the junior suite was quiet and relaxing. I felt welcomed and ready for the excitement to come. We walked in and saw the comfortable bed, but there was also a couch on the opposite wall. Over the bed, we had beautiful designs, and there were even a few photo-like posters to get us in the right frame of mind.

With so much space, we were disappointed to only stay one night. | Photo by Charlie Lewis
Overall, the room is brightly lit because of the white and gray marble tiles on the floor. Additionally, there were many lamps, and we could open the curtains to see the breathtaking view. I personally liked the layout and found it to be comfortable.
The air conditioning worked well, even though it was a bit hard to find initially. Bali is a tropical area, so most people focus more on this initially. Additionally, I felt the room was insulated against noise well. I didn’t hear traffic from the road or noisy neighbors. The blackout curtains did well to block the early morning light.

I’m always thrilled when my room has a nice bath. | Photo by Charlie Lewis
I’m always happy when I have the choice between a shower and a bath. There is a bathrobe available, and the hair dryer was a nice touch. I’d say the water pressure was lacking, but there was enough hot water to complete my ablutions. Fairfield uses the This Works Bath & Body collection, and the scents are calming and relaxing.
There weren’t a ton of amenities in the rooms, but I did appreciate the desk and alarm clock. Likewise, there’s a hair dryer and coffee maker, but you’ll have to supply your own blends.
I do wish there had been more outlets for my phone and laptop. They were hidden, which took some time to find and sort out.
In summary, I believe the room lived up to the quality I expect from the Fairfield brand.
Food and Drink

The breakfast buffet offered a lot of options. | Photo by Charlie Lewis
Although I did enjoy the complimentary breakfast through my boyfriend’s Platinum Elite status in the Bonvoy program, I didn’t drink or dine at the hotel any other time. Still, I was happy with the selection of items available. There is a restaurant close by, but there isn’t one on-site. Still, the bar offers some food options, and the junior suite comes with 24/7 room service.
If you don’t like the idea of eating bar food, Dery’s Restaurant, Nuka Restaurant and Warung Koffie Batavia are available nearby.
Amenities
People often choose a hotel because of the amenities they’ll receive, and there are decent ones available at the Fairfield by Marriott Bali South Kuta. You’ll enjoy free internet and parking on the property. Plus, there’s a car hire available and meeting rooms for business-related needs.

The rooftop pool is worth spending some time in. | Photo by Charlie Lewis
I enjoyed the rooftop pool, which is on Level 6. It’s a gorgeous place, but the green tiles made the water look a little strange. Still, it’s large enough for guests to swim, and there’s a fitness center available 24/7. Though a bit small and outdated, it will help you stay fit and plan your workouts like you would at home.

Although I didn’t use the rooftop Sky Bar, it serves cocktails, light food items and beers. However, it isn’t always open. Still, you can sit on the beach chairs or sun loungers as often as you want. There’s also a sun terrace and deck available.
Fairfield by Marriott Bali South Kuta – Family Friendliness
Overall, I would say that the Fairfield by Marriott Bali South Kuta Hotel is family-friendly. In fact, kids stay free with an adult, so you can find affordable accommodations in one of the most beautiful places in the world.
Although there isn’t a separate children’s pool or any kids’ clubs, I will say it’s a family-friendly atmosphere.
Final Thoughts on Fairfield by Marriott Bali South Kuta
I absolutely loved my stay at the Fairfield by Marriott Bali South Kuta. Since we booked through my boyfriend’s account, we were given benefits including an upgrade and breakfast based on his Bonvoy Platinum Elite status.
Although it’s near the city center, I do like to be outside the action—the Fairfield by Marriott South Kuta splits the difference pretty well. It was a quiet place, and it was easy to get anywhere I wanted to go with the Grab app. Yes, there were some drawbacks, but I’d say this is an excellent place to stay if you’re planning to visit Bali. Plus, you won’t have to pay for the kids.
