Every month we share what we believe are the top credit card offers on the market according to the 10xT staff. Today we are going to take a look at the best credit card offers for the month.
We rank these offers by looking at their welcome offers or signup bonuses, cardholder perks, ongoing value, and any fees they may charge. And while the best offer for you will vary depending on a number of factors, we rank the top offers based on the order in which we think they should be considered by the average person.
We divide these top credit offers in to two lists, one for those of you who are over 5/24 and one for those of you who are under.
You can also view our favorite card choices by category by seeing our favorite picks for airline credit cards, hotel credit cards, travel credit cards, cash back credit cards, and business cards.

Earn 3 Avios for every $1 spent on purchases with British Airways, Aer Lingus, Iberia and LEVEL.
Earn 2 Avios for every $1 spent on hotel accommodations when booked directly with the hotel.
Earn 1 Avios for every $1 spent on everything else.
The play with British Airways miles is to use them for short distance flights on American Airlines and other OneWorld carriers. British Airways uses a distance-based award chart, meaning you can find some flights for as little as 7,500 miles each way.
A recent example of my own; I was able to book a business class ticket from Capetown to Johannesburg (cash price ~$800) for just 12,750 Avios and ~$100 in taxes and fees.

Earn 1 Avios per $1 spent on all other purchases.
A typical airline co-brand card, but with a twist. Aer Lingus is an international carrier so the perks of this card won't be all that valuable to most U.S. residents. Note that the Avios used on this card can also be easily redeemed with British Airways and Iberia.

Frequently Asked Questions
While it may not be the one you’re hoping for, the answer is “it depends.” There are numerous factors that can go into choosing a credit card, including your spending habits, your travel goals and even where you live, so the best option for you could differ completely from the best option for someone else. Here are a few things to keep in mind that can help you make your selection:
Business vs. personal: What will the purpose of your credit card be? Are you looking for something to use for personal expenses or for business purchases? Business credit cards are tailored to suit business owners, with bonuses on categories associated with running a business and perks to match. Personal credit cards, on the other hand, can be more rewarding for everyday purchases.
Your credit score: Before you dive into your research, it’s important to know your credit score so that you have an idea of what types of cards you might reasonably expect to get approved for. While the top rewards cards typically require stellar scores, there’s a range of great options out there no matter where your score currently stands. Using your new card responsibly can also help bolster your credit score, so you may be able to aim higher next time around.
Reward type: Are you looking for cash back that will go straight into your pocket? Trying to collect frequent flier miles to use with your favorite airline? Or are you interested in diving a bit deeper and focusing on transferable points that can unlock aspirational travel experiences? Deciding what you want to earn—and how much effort you want to put into redeeming your rewards for maximum value—is crucial to narrowing down the field.
Bonus categories: Generally speaking, you’ll want to look for a card that earns bonus rewards on categories where you spend the most money. Foodies might be interested in cards that earn extra points or cash back at restaurants or grocery stores, for example, while van lifers may want to net bonus points on gas. No matter where most of your money goes, you’re likely to find a card (or cards) that will reward you on some of your top categories.
Other benefits: It’s not all about earning, though. The great thing about rewards credit cards is that many of them come with an array of other perks, which can include lounge access, hotel status or credits to use on everything from airline fees to food delivery. If you find a card has benefits that can save you money—and you know you can put them to good use—that may be reason enough to apply.
Annual fee: Of course, those benefits don’t (always) come free. For the most part, the most souped up cards also carry the highest annual fees. But that’s not to say there aren’t plenty of great cards out there with reasonable fees (or no fees at all!). And it’s also not to say that the high-priced cards can’t be well worth the money. It all depends on how much value you’ll get from the card and what you’re willing to pay for it.
When used responsibly, credit cards actually help, rather than hurt, your credit score. Demonstrating over time that you can consistently make on-time payments is a great way to signal to lenders that you’re trustworthy and responsible.
That said, your credit score will see a temporary ding whenever you apply for a new card. Before you do, you’ll want to weigh any near-term moves you may be making that depend on your credit score—taking out a mortgage, for example.
Credit card companies are getting stricter and stricter when it comes to cracking down on user behavior they classify as “gaming” the system, or opening and closing cards specifically to accrue sign-up bonuses. To keep yourself in good standing with banks, it’s important to plan on keeping a card for at least a year after you open it. If you’re picking a credit card that suits your needs, it’s likely you’ll want to keep it for much longer anyway!
Of course, card issuers are continually tweaking their products and rolling out new ones, so you may find that eventually the card you have isn’t the optimal one for you or your lifestyle. It’s also important to regularly audit your wallet to make sure you’re getting enough value out of the card or cards you do have to justify any annual fees.
If you do find that you’re ready to bid farewell to a card, we always recommend looking to downgrade a card before outright cancelling it. In general, the longer your lines of credit have been open, the better for your credit score, so cancelling can have implications there. Downgrading to no-fee card keeps the same line of credit up and running without you having to pay a dime.
Once again, the important thing here is to avoid engaging in any behavior that might look risky to banks. Taking out multiple cards in a manner of months? That might raise some red flags.
On the other hand, if you’re using cards responsibly—spacing out applications by at least a few months, making all payments on time and keeping your cards open for at least a year—you can easily have a credit card tally into the teens and preserve an excellent credit score. In that case, it’s more about personal preference and how well you can keep track of them all!
While a hard and fast limit may not exist on how many cards you have overall, some issuers have started putting their own limits on how many of their cards you can hold at once or take out in a given time period. Chase has its infamous 5/24 rule—you’ll automatically be rejected for certain Chase cards you apply for if you’ve already taken out five cards from any issuer in the last 24 months—and American Express has a four-credit-cards-per-customer cap (and a 10-card limit for charge cards).
Almost every rewards card out there will offer you more than enough value to offset the annual fee. Travel cards in particular tend to offer sign-up bonuses that are big enough to redeem for international flights, providing plenty of bang for your buck. Cards commonly also come with various perks and credits that can effectively knock hundreds of dollars off the fees you pay.
The question then, becomes whether you can—and will—actually use the perks and credits in order to offset those fees. For example, the $695 Platinum Card from American Express comes packed with benefits, including up to $200 in annual Uber savings (you must add your Platinum Card® to your Uber account, and then pay with any AMEX card), a $200 airline fee credit, a $100 hotel credit when booking through The Hotel Collection and $100 in annual Saks credits. Those credits alone add up to more than the annual fee, but if you don’t travel frequently, you might not be able to put them all to use.
It’s all a matter of finding the card that works best for you. We can all but guarantee that there’s a card out there that’ll be worth the fee in terms of what it nets you in rewards—and if not, there are plenty of lucrative offers for fee-free cards out there, too!
Yes—and that’s one key reason we recommend only taking out a card whose balance you know you can pay off in full each month. While you’ll earn points or cash back from putting spend on the card, they won’t wind up outweighing what you’ll pay in interest if you carry a balance.
