Alaska Airlines has acquired Hawaiian Airlines and created a new loyalty program called Atmos Rewards. This program replaces the Alaska Mileage Plan program immediately and will replace HawaiianMiles by October 1, 2025. Atmos Rewards keeps many features from Alaska’s previous program but adds exciting updates. Members can now choose to earn points based on distance flown, dollars spent, or segments flown. The elite tiers have been renamed to Atmos Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Titanium, replacing the MVP tiers. While requirements for Silver and Gold remain unchanged, Platinum will require 80,000 status points and Titanium will need 135,000 status points starting in 2026.

One standout feature coming in spring 2026 is that Titanium members will receive complimentary upgrades into business class across the entire global Alaska and Hawaiian network. All elite members will also get upgrades on Hawaiian flights within North America.

Credit card spending now plays a bigger role in earning status, with the new premium Atmos™ Rewards Summit Visa Infinite® card offering one status point per $2 spent with no cap, plus a 10,000 status point annual boost. This card also provides a Global Companion Award annually, 3X points on dining and foreign purchases, free checked bags and preferred boarding for you and up to six companions, and more. Plus it features an interesting benefit of getting a $50 Instant Travel Delay Credit for flight cancellations or departure delays of 2 hours (for flights marketed by Alaska Airlines and operated by Alaska Airlines, Horizon Air, or SkyWest). Alaska Airlines’ previous personal and business credit cards are being rebranded under the Atmos name as well.

Our Take

Atmos Rewards shows Alaska’s commitment to standing out in the airline loyalty space. We appreciate that they’ve kept what works while adding innovative features. The ability to choose how you earn points is particularly refreshing in an industry where most airlines have switched to revenue-based earning without offering alternatives. The global upgrades for Titanium members represent a first among U.S. airlines and provide a compelling reason to reach top-tier status.

The new premium credit card deserves special attention with its generous companion awards and bonus earning on foreign currency purchases. For points and miles enthusiasts, the combination of credit card benefits and being able to earn status points when redeeming awards makes Atmos Rewards worth considering even if you don’t frequently fly Alaska or Hawaiian. The program offers a unique value proposition with its diverse airline partners and flexible earning options that reward different types of travelers.
