What to Expect in Air Tahiti Nui Business Class

Unlike most other airlines, Air Tahiti Nui only has one type of aircraft in its fleet: the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. This aircraft is designed for long-haul flights, which is befitting of French Polynesia and its remoteness from all other countries. Each of these Boeing 787-9 aircraft has exactly 30 business-class seats arranged in a 2-2-2 configuration.

It’s worth noting that the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner has the largest windows ever produced on an aircraft as of 2025. Plus, each window is equipped with a light filter that passengers can easily control.

Air Tahiti Nui’s business-class product is known as Poerava Business Class, which translates roughly to “black pearl” in the native language. This product is characterized by space and comfort and the colors of the Poerava Business Class cabin are reminiscent of the white sandy beaches and turquoise lagoons of Tahiti.

Each business-class seat on these aircraft can be converted into a lie-flat bed with a length of 78 inches and 60 inches of space between each row. They also include numerous storage compartments, a touchscreen remote control, an adjustable reading light, an AC power outlet, two USB ports and a privacy divider.

During your flight, you’ll also receive a mattress topper for maximum comfort, a large pillow and a luxurious amenity kit. This kit will include a toothbrush, toothpaste, bamboo-fiber socks, an eyemask, face and hand creams, lip balm and more.

Poerava Business Class seats also include a 16-inch touchscreen Panasonic eX3 personal entertainment system, which gives you access to Air Tahiti Nui’s large selection of movies, series, cartoons, music, documentaries and games. You’ll also be provided noise-cancelling headphones to use during your flight. Plus, the cabin is equipped with in-flight Wi-Fi (mix of free and paid packages).

When flying in Poerava Business Class, you’ll receive your choice of a delicious meal from the business-class menu, which includes dishes inspired by the confluence of Polynesian, French and Asian culinary cultures.

To pair with your meal, you can choose from Air Tahiti Nui’s beverage list, which includes water, fruit juices, soft drinks, beer, spirits and some excellent wines. In fact, Air Tahiti Nui’s wine list was created by Olivier Poussier, who was voted the Best Sommelier in the World in 2000 by Association de la Sommellerie Internationale (ASI).

Of course, business-class passengers flying with Air Tahiti Nui will also receive priority treatment at the airport, including a dedicated check-in area and priority baggage claim upon arrival. Poerava Business Class passengers also have access to airport lounges at every airport served by Air Tahiti Nui.

Best Programs Through Which You Can Book Air Tahiti Nui Business Class

Although Air Tahiti Nui isn’t part of any major airline alliance, the airline does have some strategic partnerships with other airlines, which means you can book Air Tahiti Nui award flights through certain partner frequent flyer programs, such as American Airlines AAdvantage and Alaska Airlines Atmos Rewards.

And, of course, you can also book Air Tahiti Nui business-class awards through the airline’s own Club Tiare frequent flyer program.

Alaska Airlines

The best frequent flyer program through which to book Air Tahiti Nui business-class awards is Alaska Airlines Atmos Rewards. This program prices partner award flights according to region-based “starting from” award charts. This means that you can often find partner awards that offer outsized value per mile (exceeding 1 cent per mile).

For example, we found a round-trip Air Tahiti Nui business-class award flight itinerary between Los Angeles (LAX) and Papeete (PPT) for a total of 440,000 miles and about $93 in taxes and fees. Of course, that’s a ton of miles to spend on a single award flight itinerary. However, if you compare that award rate to the cash price of the same flights, it’s actually an excellent value.

LAX to PPT with Atmos Rewards

If you were to book the exact same flights with cash through the Air Tahiti Nui website, they would cost you about $5,707.

Thus, considering the taxes and fees you’d have to pay for the award flight, this redemption would give you a value of just under 1.3 cents per mile. This value is actually fairly poor for a business-class redemption, and there are many business-class redemptions on other partner airlines available through the Atmos Rewards program.

Nonetheless, if you’re planning on flying from Los Angeles to Tahiti anyway and you want to save yourself a lot of cash, then making this redemption could be a good idea.

The Alaska Airlines Atmos Rewards program also allows you to book Air Tahiti Nui business-class awards on shorter routes. Unfortunately, these redemptions don’t tend to offer very impressive value either.

For example, we found a round-trip Air Tahiti Nui business-class award itinerary between Auckland (AKL) and Papeete (PPT) for 100,000 miles and about $143 in taxes and fees.

If you were to book the same flight itinerary with cash through the Air Tahiti Nui website, it would cost you about $1,650.

So, accounting for the taxes and fees you’d have to pay for the award flight, this redemption would give you a value of slightly over 1.5 cents per point, which is decent.

As you can see, it’s hard to find stellar value on Air Tahiti Nui business-class awards through the Atmos Rewards program. However, one major advantage of this program is the fact that it’s a 1:1 transfer partner of Bilt Rewards.

Air Tahiti Nui Club Tiare

Apart from Alaska Airlines Atmos Rewards, the other frequent flyer program through which you can reliably book Air Tahiti Nui business-class award flights is Air Tahiti Nui’s own Club Tiare program.

This program isn’t a transfer partner of any of the major U.S. credit card rewards programs and, unless you fly with Air Tahiti Nui often, you probably won’t be able to rack up a large balance of miles with this program. So, unfortunately, the Club Tiare program is essentially irrelevant to most of our readers.

Nonetheless, if you happen to be a member of Club Tiare and you have a large balance of miles saved up, this program prices all Air Tahiti Nui flights according a fixed award chart, which means you can often find Air Tahiti Nui business-class award redemptions that offer high value per mile.

Another major disadvantage of this program, though, is that it’s very difficult to book award flights online. So, if you want to book an Air Tahiti Nui business-class award through this program, you’re probably better off calling the Club Tiare customer service phone line.

The Bottom Line

Unless you plan on visiting Tahiti, the largest island in French Polynesia, you most likely won’t ever fly with Air Tahiti Nui. This airline operates a small route network between its hub in Papeete and several long-haul destinations, including Tokyo, Auckland, Los Angeles and Paris. Each Air Tahiti Nui flight (all of which are operated using Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft) offers business-class service, which includes amenities like lie-flat seats, premium complimentary meals, airport lounge access before takeoff and more.

If you want to book Air Tahiti Nui business-class seats with points or miles, the main viable option is to book through Alaska Airlines Atmos Rewards, to which you can transfer points from Bilt Rewards. Air Tahiti Nui business-class award availability is also available through American Airlines AAdvantage. And it’s available through the Air Tahiti Nui Club Tiare program, which isn’t a transfer partner of any of the major U.S credit card rewards programs.

So, if you want to fly Air Tahiti Nui business class at a low out-of-pocket cost, you might want to think about getting a credit card from Bilt. Using these points and the information in this article, you could book one of these flights at a great rate.
