Friends,
I have some bittersweet news to share with you today.
At the end of this year, I’ll be stepping down as CEO and exiting my public facing role at 10xTravel.
Travis will be taking over as CEO, and will be responsible for charting the next phase of 10xTravel’s journey along with Emily, Matt, and the rest of our wonderful team.
I want to be clear that this wasn’t a sudden decision. I’ve been thinking about stepping back for a while now, and Travis and I have been actively working on this transition since late summer.
I’ll still own 10xTravel and am committed to seeing it continue to grow. But will be fully stepping away from day-to-day operations to give Travis and our team space to lead without me in the background.
Why This Transition
I started this company because I love to create new things from scratch and teach something I am passionate about to people who can benefit tremendously from it. And have thoroughly enjoyed doing just that for over a decade now.
I could have never imagined that 10xTravel would grow to become what it is today.
Or the wild journey that it took to get here.
But as we’ve grown, my role has had to evolve in ways that don’t align with my strengths. 10xTravel needs someone who thrives on building systems, managing complexity, and driving operational excellence.
That’s Travis, not me.
My personal life has also evolved over the past 10+ years to include a family with a wife and three lovely daughters. And I want nothing more than to spend time with them before they stop thinking that Dad is the coolest dude in the world.
It was time for me to take a step back, take a breath, and spend some time enjoying this phase of life before I figure out what comes next.
10xTravel is ready for a new chapter, and I am ready to hand it off.
What’s Next for 10xTravel
One of the main reasons why I am able to make this decision is because I know that 10xTravel is in good (and familiar) hands.
Travis has been my right-hand person for years. He knows every detail of this business and has a clear vision for where it needs to go next.
He’ll take over as CEO on January 1st and will be responsible for writing the next chapter of 10xTravel’s story along with Matt, Emily, and the rest of our wonderful team.
Each and every one of these people have played a crucial role in building 10xTravel to where it is today and I have full confidence in their ability to lead the company into its next phase.
I imagine there will be some changes on the horizon, and am excited to see where the team takes things from here.
The one thing that isn’t changing is 10xTravel’s commitment to putting our audience first, our business second, and our ego last. These are the values that guide everything we do, and will continue to do in the future no matter who is leading the company.
What’s Next for Bryce
I’ll still own 10xTravel, but I won’t be hovering or second-guessing from the sidelines. This is a full handoff to Travis and the team to take things from here.
I won’t be on the podcast, attending meetups, or actively participating in the Facebook group. As much as I have loved doing all of these things, I know that this is the best path forward both for 10xTravel and for myself.
My next phase will be spent quietly watching 10xTravel from a distance, still fully believing in its mission and even more excited to see where it goes next.
A Quick Reflection
Anyone who has ever gone through a big life transition like this knows that it often forces you to reflect on things from a different perspective. I’ve done quite a bit of that over these past few months, and I wanted to share one thing in particular that I didn’t fully understand until recently.
For over a decade, I’ve been teaching points and miles to millions of people on the internet (and sometimes in real life).
The stories of how people were able to use this knowledge to do amazing things were what motivated me to keep going. People visiting new places, reconnecting with friends and loved ones, and learning a little more about the world and about themselves along the way.
I could feel the excitement and joy in each one.
And what I’ve come to realize is that it wasn’t the fancy or elaborate travel that I was most excited about. It was about the human behind the story who proved to themselves, and to others, that they are capable of doing great things.
Capable of overcoming their doubts, learning a difficult skill, and using that skill to improve their lives and the lives of people they love.
That’s what this has always been about for me.
And recognizing this has helped me feel an even greater sense of joy and closure as I move into my next phase.
Thank You
Building 10xTravel has been one of the greatest experiences of my life. You helped me turn a passion into a company and a community that has exceeded my wildest dreams, and I will be forever grateful for it.
I am excited to watch where Travis and the team go in this next chapter for 10xTravel, and I hope you are too.
Thank you for the journey of a lifetime.
Do please say hello if our paths happen to cross again at some point.
And most importantly, never forget that you’re capable of doing great things.
Happy Travels,
Bryce
