Citi Offering 25% Transfer Bonus to Avianca LifeMiles

Citi has just launched a special deal for ThankYou points holders. When you transfer your ThankYou points to Avianca LifeMiles, you’ll get a 25% bonus. This means for every 1,000 points you transfer, you’ll receive 1,250 LifeMiles. The offer is available until April 12, 2025, giving you plenty of time to consider your options.

This bonus comes shortly after LifeMiles increased their award prices on many routes. Despite this recent devaluation, there’s still value to be found. For example, business class flights from the US to Europe now typically cost 80,000 LifeMiles one-way. With the 25% bonus, you only need to transfer 64,000 ThankYou points to book this award. Even better, some US to Europe routes still cost just 69,000 LifeMiles in business class, requiring only 56,000 ThankYou points with this bonus.

Our Take

Our advice is to avoid transferring points without a specific plan. Since this bonus lasts for four weeks, there’s no rush to move your points unless you have an immediate booking need. The 25% bonus helps offset the recent LifeMiles devaluation, but doesn’t completely make up for it in most cases.

Look for business class awards to Europe, especially those routes still priced at 69,000 miles. Remember that transfers must be made in 1,000-point increments, so plan accordingly. This bonus might not be the most exciting offer we’ve seen, but it can certainly help stretch your points further when you have a specific redemption in mind.
