The Frontier Miles frequent flyer program isn’t the most robust rewards program out there. However, for those of us traveling around the United States on a budget, it’s a program that could save you a whole lot of money. As a Basic member of the Frontier Miles program, you’ll earn 10X miles per $1 spent on airfare on Frontier Airlines (you can earn even more as an elite status member). You can also earn miles by signing up for a Frontier co-branded credit card, booking hotel stays, renting cars and more.

(Note that you’ll also earn 10X points per $1 spent. In this program, points let you earn elite status while miles are what you’d redeem for flights. So this is an example of a program where points and miles are not used interchangeably.)

Once you rack up a balance of Frontier Miles, you can redeem those miles for flights on Frontier Airlines. And all award flights through the Frontier Miles are priced according to a single fixed award chart.

Because Frontier award flights are priced according to a fixed award chart, it’s possible to find outsized value on award flights when award rates are low and cash prices are high. However, don’t expect to get amazing value through this program.

Nonetheless, since Frontier doesn’t have any airline partners, if you’re flying on Frontier, you may as well rack up some Frontier Miles. Then, you can get some free Frontier flights in the future.

In this article, we’re going to introduce you to the Frontier Miles award chart so that you can find high-value redemptions.

Award Chart for Flight Awards With Frontier

There are three types of award tickets available through the Frontier Miles program: Value, Standard and Last Seat. Here are the characteristics of each type of award:

  • Value—These awards require the fewest miles but have less availability than any other type of award.
  • Standard—These awards require more miles than Value awards but fewer miles than Last Seat awards. They have greater availability than Value awards but less availability than Last Seat awards.
  • Last Seat—These awards are only available to Frontier Miles elite status members. They require the most miles of any type of award but have the greatest availability of any type of award (allowing you to book even the “last seat” on the plane).

The following award chart includes the minimum number of miles required for each of these three types of awards, depending on the route that you’re flying on:

If you want to know the mileage required and minimum taxes and fees for a round-trip flight, you can double the values in the chart above. For example, if you wanted a round-trip Value award flight to/from Mexico, it would cost 30,000 miles and $81.42 minimum in taxes and fees.

Award tickets do not include advance seat assignments, carry-on baggage, checked baggage or other ancillary products unless otherwise stated.

The Bottom Line

While the Frontier Miles frequent flyer program certainly isn’t the most impressive rewards program out there, it is very simple and easy to understand. And, if you happen to fly on Frontier a lot, this program could save you a considerable amount of money.

The Frontier Miles program is free to join and, since you can’t credit Frontier flights to any other frequent flyer program, you may as well elect to earn Frontier Miles on your Frontier flights. Then, you can redeem these miles for free flights on Frontier airlines.

If you want to know what a specific award flight on Frontier will cost you, you can refer to the award chart that we’ve included above for your convenience.
