As my first experience with a Hyatt Centric property, I was pleasantly surprised by the modern amenities and comfortable accommodations. The hotel’s standout feature was undoubtedly its rooftop pool, which provided an exhilarating winter experience amidst heavy snowfall.

Located in a central location in Montreal, this property proved to be an ideal base for our brief stay. While the severe weather limited our exploration of the surrounding area, the hotel’s amenities and dining options ensured we had everything we needed without venturing out into the cold.

The Hyatt Centric Montreal is situated in a prime location in the city. However, due to the heavy snowfall during our visit, we weren’t able to fully explore the surrounding area as much as we had hoped.

Despite the weather constraints, we did manage to venture out one evening for beers with friends, and there are numerous attractions and dining options within easy reach of the hotel under normal weather conditions.

The Hyatt Centric Montreal has some unique features.

Rooftop Pool

The rooftop pool was a unique highlight. Despite the freezing temperatures and snow, I couldn’t resist taking a plunge. While it was advertised as heated, the heavy snowfall had significantly cooled the water, creating an invigorating experience.

As a Globalist member, I enjoyed complimentary breakfast at the hotel’s restaurant each morning. The menu was impressive and made for a great start to each day.

Cozy Atmosphere

It was an overwhelmingly positive stay, but there are a few limited drawbacks to mention.

While the gym was sufficient for a basic workout, its relatively small size might be a drawback for fitness enthusiasts used to more extensive facilities.

Limited Exploration Due to Weather

This isn’t the fault of the hotel, but the heavy snowfall did limit our ability to explore the surrounding area and fully appreciate the hotel’s location.

Pool Temperature

Although the rooftop pool is a great feature, the water temperature during our winter stay was quite cold due to the snowfall, which might deter some guests from using it in similar conditions.

Getting to Hyatt Centric Montreal

The Hyatt Centric Montreal is conveniently located in the city. The hotel is easily accessible from Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport by taxi, ride-share services or public transportation. Due to our late-night arrival, we elected to take a taxi, and our driver did have a little trouble finding the entrance to the hotel, though the challenge to navigation was partially due to heavy snowfall.

Check-In

The check-in process at the Hyatt Centric Montreal was smooth and efficient. As a Globalist member, I was acknowledged for my status, which is always appreciated, though there were no upgrades available. The staff was professional and provided all necessary information about the hotel and its amenities.

Given the snowy conditions outside, the warm welcome and quick check-in process were particularly appreciated. The lobby area provided a comfortable space to shake off the cold while we completed the formalities.

We stayed in a 1 King room for our two-night visit. The room was well-appointed and comfortable, providing a cozy retreat from the snowy weather outside.

The king-sized bed was plush and comfortable, ensuring a good night’s sleep after our winter adventures. The room also featured modern amenities that you’d expect from a Hyatt property, including a flat-screen TV and a work desk.

The view from our room probably would have been impressive, given the hotel’s location, but the heavy snowfall and cloudy weather during our stay limited our view. It would be interesting to see the same view in clearer weather conditions.

Overall, the room served as a comfortable base for our Montreal winter getaway, providing all the necessities for a pleasant stay.

The standout dining experience during our stay was undoubtedly the complimentary breakfast, a perk of my Globalist status. Beyond breakfast, we didn’t explore the hotel’s other dining options. Given the snowy conditions, we mostly stayed in, but we did venture out one evening for beers with friends. The hotel’s restaurant, Cartier Arms, also offers a full menu for lunch and dinner, including a kids’ menu for traveling families.

Despite the freezing temperatures and heavy snowfall, I couldn’t resist taking a dip. While it’s advertised as heated, the extreme weather conditions had cooled the water significantly, making for an exhilarating, if chilly, experience.

We also made use of the hotel’s gym during our stay. While relatively small, it was sufficient for a basic workout and wasn’t crowded during our visit. This allowed us to maintain our fitness routine while traveling.

Other amenities included in-room features like mini-fridges, coffee makers, and flat-screen TVs with streaming services, which added to the comfort of our stay.

While we didn’t travel with family during this stay, the Hyatt Centric Montreal could appeal to families traveling with children.

The central location in Old Montreal is close to many family-friendly attractions, such as the Montreal Science Centre, the Biodome, and the Old Port of Montreal. There are also several parks within walking distance.

The hotel’s restaurant, Cartier Arms, offers a dedicated kids’ menu, and amenities like cribs and high chairs are available upon request. However, it’s worth noting that the hotel doesn’t have a dedicated swimming pool (apart from the rooftop pool) or offer specific children’s activities or a kids’ club.

Overall, while not marketed specifically as a family hotel, the Hyatt Centric Montreal can accommodate families comfortably, especially those interested in exploring the city’s attractions.

My stay at the Hyatt Centric Montreal left a positive impression, despite the challenging weather conditions. As my first experience with a Hyatt Centric property, it set a high bar for future stays with this brand.
