After a two-month backpacking trip through Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama and Colombia, it was time to return home to New Jersey to see my family for Christmas. So, while staying in the Colombian capital city of Bogota, I decided to book a flight from Bogota El Dorado International Airport (BOG) to Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR).

I used Chase Ultimate Rewards points to book an Air Canada-operated flight from BOG to EWR, which was supposed to have a layover in Montreal. However, when I woke up on the morning of my flight, I found that my Air Canada flight had been canceled and I’d been rebooked on a direct United Airline flight from BOG to EWR. This new flight departed an hour later than the flight I’d originally booked (and also arrived at EWR earlier), which left me plenty of time to explore the airport lounges at BOG.

While waiting for my flight, I had the opportunity to visit the Copa Club lounge in Terminal 1, which I accessed using my Priority Pass membership. A few weeks earlier, I had a pleasant experience at the Copa Club lounge at Panama Tocumen International Airport, so I had high hopes for this other Copa Club lounge. Unfortunately, my experience at the Copa Club at BOG was, for the most part, a disappointment.

Copa Club at BOG Location and Hours

This Copa Club lounge is located in Terminal 1, Concourse A of Bogota El Dorado International Airport (BOG). To get to the lounge, you’ll need to arrive at Terminal 1 and then follow the signs for international departures. Once you pass through security, you can turn right and start walking towards Concourse A.

If you continue through Concourse A, you’ll eventually see signs on your right for the Copa Club lounge as you near Gate A6. Follow these signs to the escalators leading down to the lounge. You’ll need to descend two escalators from the terminal level to get to Copa Club. Once you’ve descended the two escalators, the entrance to the lounge will be on your left.

The Copa Club lounge at BOG is open from 3:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.every day.

Copa Club at BOG Access and Entry Requirements

I entered the Copa Club lounge for free using my Priority Pass membership, which I have as a perk of the Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card.

It’s worth mentioning that, if you’re looking for a credit card that offers unlimited complimentary access to the Priority Pass network of airport lounges, the Capital One Venture X card is the lowest-annual-fee card that offers this benefit (with an annual fee of $395).

Note that Priority Pass memberships issued through the personal Venture X card will lose their complimentary guest access starting February 1, 2026, with guests now costing $35 each.

However, there are some other great premium credit cards that offer unlimited complimentary Priority Pass lounge access. Here are some other cards that are worth looking into if you want this perk:

You can also enter the Copa Club lounge at BOG if you have a membership to Diners Club International, Lounge Key or Lounge Pass. Memberships to these programs can be purchased for an annual fee and some of them are also available as perks of certain credit cards.

Additionally, the Copa Club lounge a BOG is a Star Alliance lounge, meaning that you can access this lounge if you’re flying business class or above on any Star Alliance airline or if you hold Gold status or above with any Star Alliance frequent flyer program.

Copa Club at BOG Layout and Amenities

The Copa Club lounge at BOG has very basic layout and amenities. Once again, this lounge is located two levels below the Terminal 1 gates, so you need to descend two escalators to get to it. When you arrive at the door, you’ll find a reception desk with a backdrop of real, live plants and the Copa Club logo. There’s also a screen displaying flight information in the reception area.

Once you check in with the concierge, you’ll proceed past the desk and enter the main seating area of the lounge. All throughout this room, surrounding the live snake plants in the center, you’ll find comfortable leather seats, each of which is equipped with a set of outlets so you can charge your devices. Some of these seats also have small tables on which you can place your beverages, laptop or other things.

In the corner of this room, you’ll find the bar, which serves complimentary beer, wine, spirits, cocktails and soft drinks. There are three television screens above the bar, all displaying different channels (when I was there, two of the screens were displaying news channels and the third was airing episodes of The Nanny).

In the opposite corner of this main seating area, there’s a counter with an automatic coffee machine, a dispenser of cold and hot water and baskets full of prepackaged snacks. At the time when I visited this lounge, the service of fresh food was suspended, which was disappointing.

After you walk through the door from reception to the main seating area, if you go to the left, you’ll find a work room containing partitioned desks, each of which has its own outlets and adjustable office chair. If you didn’t bring a laptop and need to access the internet, there’s a desktop computer that guests are free to use. In the corner of this room, there are two office rooms with doors, which are great places to take a private call or focus on important work.

If you take a left after you pass through the door from the reception area to the main seating area, you’ll pass a luggage room, which has shelves on which you can store your luggage during your time in the lounge.

If you keep walking in that same direction, you’ll pass a media room on your left. This room contains two television screens cased in a large bookshelf. There are rows of plush leather seats (the most comfortable seats in the lounge in my opinion), all of which have their own outlets.

Past the media room, you’ll reach a hallway that leads to the bathroom. The men’s bathroom is on your right and the women’s bathroom is on your left. Both of these bathrooms are handicap accessible. It’s worth noting that this lounge does not have a shower suite or changing room.

Food and Beverages at Copa Club at BOG

When I checked in to the Copa Club at BOG, I was informed that they were not serving fresh food and only offered prepackaged snacks.

Indeed, when we entered the lounge, we found that there was only a small selection of packaged snacks available, including corn and quinoa puffs, graham crackers, yuca chips, honey and oat cookies, packages of peanuts and raisins and chocolate wafer cookies. There was a sign informing guests that they were not allowed to bring any of these snacks outside of the lounge.

Next to the snacks, there was a selection of tea bags as well as a machine dispensing hot and cold water. There was also an automatic coffee machine serving espresso drinks like lattes and americanos as well as hot chocolate and steamed milk.

As mentioned before, there was also a bar in the Copa Club lounge that wasn’t open at the time I arrived (since I was there very early in the morning). However, I was able to take a look at some of the beverages that were on display.

Unique Features at Copa Club at BOG

For the most part, this Copa Club was a fairly standard airport lounge if not a boring one. However, in my experience visiting Copa Club lounges, they do a good job in creating a nice environment full of plants and interesting photographs, and the Copa Club at BOG is no exception.

Copa Club at BOG backdrop at the reception desk

First of all, the live plants that serve as the backdrop for the reception desk make the space feel welcoming and verdant. And, when you enter the main seating area of the lounge, the large planters full of snake plants in the center of the room give you the subtle impression that you’re outside in nature instead of inside of a busy airport.

Copa Club lounge - famous quote by Carlos Vives

This Copa Club lounge displayed black-and-white photos on the walls from around the city of Bogota, including some of the city’s famous cathedrals. On one of the walls of the main seating area, there’s a large quote from Carlos Vives, one of Colombia’s most famous musicians. These homages to the local culture are entertaining and, personally, helped me reflect on my time in Colombia and the wonderful experiences that I had there.

How Much Time Would You Spend at Copa Club at BOG?

Most third-party entries are limited to three hours; Copa’s own single-visit pass can be purchased starting four hours before departure (capacity permitting). So, for instance, if your flight were to depart at 5:30 p.m., the earliest you could enter this lounge if entering with Priority Pass would be 2:30 p.m. However, if you happen to be at the airport earlier than three hours prior, some airport lounge concierges are willing to bend the rules and will let you in anyway.

Copa Club at BOG stay

But, three hours is much more time than you need to spend at the Copa Club at BOG. This lounge doesn’t have much to boast about. The only reason to enter is for a free cup of coffee or a free alcoholic drink and a place to sit. Apart from that, since there’s no real food in this lounge apart from packaged snacks, you’ll probably want to go elsewhere before your flight to get a meal.

Nonetheless, the Copa Club lounge at BOG beats sitting in the terminal where you’d have to pay for food and drinks and deal with noisy crowds. So, if this is the only lounge at BOG that you can access, it’s worth stopping in before your flight for an hour or so.

Final Thoughts on Copa Club at BOG

The Copa Club lounge at BOG was pretty disappointing because of the lack of fresh food. While the fresh food service may have been “temporarily suspended,” there was no mention of when this service would return. And, without any fresh food, this lounge doesn’t have a whole lot to offer, so I’d check if fresh food service has returned.

With that being said, the Copa Club lounge does have some comfortable seating, a nice ambience and plenty of power outlets where you can charge your devices. Plus, there’s an automatic coffee machine and a bar, so you can get free hot and cold beverages any time of the day. All of this makes the Copa Club at BOG a nice place to pass some time.

If you can’t access any of the other lounges at Bogota El Dorado International Airport (BOG), then relaxing in the Copa Club is preferable to sitting in the airport terminal. But are you going to be blown away by the amenities offered at this lounge? Probably not.
