Whether you’re a casual Vegas vacationer or a frequent high roller, the MGM Rewards program offers value to travelers looking to make the most out of every dollar they spend at the slots and beyond.

From discounted show tickets and complimentary parking to luxury suite upgrades and even free cruises, the MGM Rewards program offers serious value to those who can maximize its offers. MGM operates many well-known hotels in the Las Vegas Strip, from the Cosmopolitan and Bellagio to the MGM Grand and more.

At face value, the program is simple: you earn points on every dollar you spend at MGM properties, be it on the cost of your room, casino spending, Cirque du Soleil shows or other activities. You’ll also earn additional points—known as tier credits—that can earn you MGM Rewards elite status.

Let’s dive into the MGM Rewards program and explore the benefits of MGM Membership, its status tiers, its earning potential and its two co-branded credit cards.

Getting Started with MGM Rewards

Formerly known as M Life, the MGM Rewards program allows you to earn different types of points on gaming and non-gaming spending. Whether you’re gambling in the casino or putting your feet up in your room at the Mandalay Bay, you’ll earn points on every dollar you spend.

As an MGM Rewards member, there are five different types of points that you’re able to earn:

  1. MGM Rewards Points: You’ll earn MGM Rewards Points on gaming and non-gaming spending that you can redeem for 1 cent apiece toward gaming and non-gaming activities.
  2. Tier Credits: You’ll earn tier credits on gaming and non-gaming spending that puts you closer to achieving elite MGM status.
  3. Slot Dollars: You’ll earn Slot Dollars for gaming that you can redeem for FreePlay.
  4. Holiday Gift Shoppe Points: You can earn Gift Points on gaming, which you can redeem for Holiday Gift Shoppe purchases during eligible dates.
  5. FreePlay: FreePlay is a type of electronic cash credit that you can use for gaming.

Now, let’s look at how to sign up for MGM membership.

MGM Status Tiers

Earning status within the MGM rewards tiers unlocks a wide array of perks, from priority lines and discounts to free annual cruises and more.

There are five tiers of MGM status, including one invitation-only tier:

  • Sapphire status
  • Pearl status
  • Gold status
  • Platinum status
  • Noir status (invite-only)

To reach a given level of MGM tiers, you’ll need to accumulate the required number of tier credits within the tier status earning year. Here’s an overview of the number of tier credits required to reach each level of status.

Tier statusNumber of tier credits required
Sapphire0
Pearl20,000
Gold75,000
Platinum200,000
NoirN/A

Keep in mind that the tier status earning year runs on a different timeline than the tier status year.

The tier status earning year runs from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31 of the year. In contrast, the tier status year runs from Feb. 1 to Jan. 31 of every year.

When you reach the required number of tier credits to receive a given level of status, you’ll receive your tier status immediately and it will be valid until the end of the following tier status year.

For instance, if you earned Pearl status in October 2025, you’d retain it through Jan. 31, 2027.

Now, let’s check out the benefits of each status tier.

Sapphire Status

MGM Sapphire status is the first tier of MGM status and is earned as soon as you sign up for the rewards program.

So long as you earn less than 19,000 tier credits within a tier status earning year, you’ll remain a Sapphire member.

Maximizing Your MGM Membership Value

Here are some of the top ways to maximize your MGM membership and squeeze the most value out of your Rewards points.

Best Ways to Use MGM Rewards

Whether you redeem your points for gaming activities—such as Slot Dollars—or for non-gaming activities, such as hotel stays, you’ll receive a fixed value of 1 cent per point.

You can redeem your MGM Rewards points for award nights at premium resorts such as Bellagio, ARIA and Mandalay Bay, among many others. Booking directly through MGM will ensure access to the lowest rates and waived resort fees for Gold tier members and above.

You can also use your points for fine-dining experiences, such as at celebrity chef restaurants or shows like Cirque du Soleil, Blue Man Group and more.

You can charge these expenses to your room and then use your points to offset this expenditure at the end of your trip.

Once you hit qualifying thresholds at the Gold, Platinum and Noir level, don’t forget to use your annual tier celebration credits, between $100 and $500 in value, for dining, rooms or other MGM resort experiences.

You can also use your points to pay for MGM Moments. These are curated experiences—ranging from behind-the-scenes tours to VIP access at events—including activities such as choosing the songs for the Bellagio fountains, swimming with sharks at Mandalay Bay or enjoying a luxurious private dinner with a renowned chef.

Special Offers and Promotions

The MGM Rewards program is packed full of special offers and promotions for its members.

Daily tier status accelerators allow you to earn bonus tier credits by reaching daily milestones during your stay in Las Vegas.

Similarly, MGM Rewards Members receive 100 Gift Points for every Slot Dollar earned playing slots, video poker machines or video lottery terminals. You’ll also earn Gift Points for table games based on game type, average bet and duration of play. You can then redeem your Gift Points for jewelry, electronics, sporting goods, handbags, housewares and FreePlay during the Holiday Gift Shoppe season.

If you like to cruise, you should keep your eyes open for special MGM offers such as double onboard FreePlay or enhanced onboard credit when booking select sailings through partner cruise lines. Similarly, you can earn 10% to 30% bonus points or tier credits on BetMGM, particularly during major sports events or casino tournaments.

As previously mentioned, Pearl members and above also enjoy 10% to 15% off at participating shops and shows. These savings can add up quickly during longer stays.

MGM is currently offering the ability to rollover up to 25,000 tier credits into 2026, putting you on a fast track to earning your next status tier. If you earn 50,000 tier credits in 2025, you can carry over 7,500 tier credits into 2026. If you earn 125,000 tier credits in 2025, you can carry over an additional 17,500 tier credits into 2026.

MGM Rewards has many offers up for grabs, so be sure to maximize these where possible.

MGM Rewards Partners and Affiliates

MGM partners with a variety of travel companies and their respective rewards programs to provide its members exclusive access to premium perks. Here’s an overview of some of MGM’s best partners.

Marriott Bonvoy

MGM Rewards has partnered with Marriott Bonvoy to offer its members exclusive benefits.

You can link your MGM Rewards account to your Marriott Bonvoy account to qualify for a status match. MGM Rewards status matches with Marriott Bonvoy status as follows:

  • MGM Rewards Pearl matches to Marriott Bonvoy Silver Elite.
  • MGM Rewards Gold and Platinum matches to Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite.
  • MGM Rewards Noir matches to Marriott Bonvoy Ambassador Elite.

Keep in mind that status matching only works from MGM Rewards to Marriott Bonvoy and not the other way round.

However, you can transfer MGM Rewards points to Marriott points and vice versa, at a rate of 10 MGM Rewards Points for eight Marriott Bonvoy points. If you’re flush with one of the aforementioned rewards currencies and need to top the other one up, this is a convenient way to do so.

You can also book a number of MGM properties on the Las Vegas Strip and beyond using Marriott points, as well as earn Marriott Bonvoy points on these stays. Thanks to Marriott and MGMs strategic licensing agreement, you’re able to book up to 17 MGM properties through Marriott Bonvoy, including the following:

  • ARIA Resort & Casino – Autograph Collection
  • Beau Rivage Resort & Casino (Biloxi, Mississippi)
  • Bellagio Resort & Casino – The Luxury Collection
  • Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa (Atlantic City, New Jersey)

  • ARIA Resort & Casino – Autograph Collection

As an MGM Rewards member, you’ll receive special benefits when sailing with Royal Caribbean and Celebrity Cruises. The higher your MGM Rewards status, the greater the benefits.
