Bilt has announced several changes coming to its rewards program in 2027, including a new Daily Rewards feature, extended Bilt Cash expiration dates, additional hotel redemption opportunities, and rental car elite status matches. Beginning January 15, 2027, members will earn a Daily Reward for every on-time monthly rent or mortgage payment, plus one qualifying daily activity with a participating neighborhood partner. Each Daily Reward reveals two potential prizes, allowing members to choose one. Rewards range from Bilt Points and Bilt Cash to collectibles that offer chances to win larger prizes, including:

  • $1 million toward a home purchase
  • 10 million Bilt Points
  • Free rent or mortgage payments for a year
  • Free Lyft rides for a year
  • A dream vacation

Importantly, Bilt credit card holders will continue earning points on rent and mortgage payments as they do today, with Daily Rewards offered as an additional benefit. Bilt says more information about prizes and program rules will be released in the new year.

Bilt Cash and Elite Status Changes

Bilt is also extending the expiration period for Bilt Cash. Instead of expiring at the end of the calendar year, Bilt Cash will now expire at the end of the month, 12 months after it was earned. For example, Bilt Cash earned in August 2027 wouldn’t expire until August 31, 2028. This gives that Bilt Cash extra months of meaningful shelf life compared to when it would have expired under the old rules. Beginning January 1, 2027, members can also redeem Bilt Cash toward hotel bookings twice annually, with the following limits per redemption:

  • Blue and Silver: $50
  • Gold and Platinum: $100
  • Eligible Palladium cardholders: $200

Gold and Platinum members will also be able to redeem Bilt Points for Home Away from Home hotel bookings in 2027, including access to eligible luxury hotel benefits. It remains to be seen how valuable of a redemption this will be for what is arguably the best transferable currency in points. Additionally, Bilt is introducing new rental car status match opportunities:

  • Silver and Gold: Hertz Five Star and SIXT ONE Gold
  • Platinum: Hertz President’s Circle and SIXT ONE Platinum

Changes to Bilt Credit Cards

Bilt is simplifying its credit card rewards structure beginning on each cardholder’s account anniversary. Under the updated benefits, cardholders can earn up to 1.25X points on rent or mortgage payments, while Flexible Bilt Cash mode, which earns 4% back in Bilt Cash on everyday spending, will be retired.

Members who prefer to keep Flexible Bilt Cash mode can opt out of the changes before their card anniversary, although they will no longer be able to switch between earning modes.

Bilt is also updating annual credits for its premium cards:

  • Bilt Palladium Card: The existing $200 Bilt Cash credit and $400 hotel credit will become a single $600 annual Bilt Cash credit.
  • Bilt Obsidian Card: The existing $100 hotel credit will become a $100 annual Bilt Cash credit.

Both credits will be issued on card account anniversaries rather than January 1, and cardholders transitioning to the new benefits will gain access to Point Accelerator redemptions using Bilt Cash. Existing everyday purchase points multipliers will remain unchanged.

There is also now the ability to see product upgrades live in the Bilt app. This was a much requested and needed change and we’re happy to see Bilt implement this. Visit card settings in the Bilt app to see if you’re eligible.

Our Take

Bilt’s 2027 updates introduce some worthwhile improvements, particularly for members who want to maximize rewards on expenses they’re already paying. Daily Rewards is an interesting addition, especially for members without a Bilt credit card, although the actual value will depend on how frequently members receive meaningful prizes rather than chances to win larger rewards. For travelers, we think the extended Bilt Cash expiration window, expanded hotel redemption options, and rental car status matches are more immediately useful. The ability to access Hertz President’s Circle or SIXT ONE Platinum status could provide tangible benefits for frequent renters, while additional hotel redemption opportunities give members more ways to use their rewards.

The credit card changes deserve closer attention, particularly for members currently using Flexible Bilt Cash mode. We recommend reviewing your earning strategy before your next card anniversary to determine whether the updated housing points structure makes more sense than retaining 4% back in Bilt Cash on everyday purchases. We also see the move toward more flexible annual Bilt Cash credits as a positive change for Palladium and Obsidian cardholders, especially those who don’t regularly use hotel-specific credits. Overall, these updates offer some potentially valuable benefits, but members should evaluate how the changes affect their individual earning and redemption strategies before making any decisions.
