The flag carrier of Poland with its headquarters in Warsaw, LOT Polish Airlines operates most of its route network in Europe. However, this airline also operates transatlantic routes to several North American cities, including New York, Newark, Los Angeles, Miami and Chicago. And, while LOT Polish Airlines typically isn’t regarded as a luxury airline, its business-class product on some of these long-haul transatlantic routes includes premium amenities, such as lie-flat seats, tasty in-flight meals, complimentary beverages (including wine, beer and spirits), a personal entertainment monitor, airport lounge access and more.

Business-class tickets on LOT Polish Airlines can be costly when purchased with cash. However, by booking these flights with points or miles, you can keep your out-of-pocket costs low and still experience this business-class product.

Since LOT Polish Airlines is a member of Star Alliance, there are several partner frequent flyer programs through which you can book LOT Polish Airlines business-class awards. However, these programs all price partner award flights differently, and some programs make it much easier than others to earn miles.

So, in this article, we’re going to look at some of the best ways to book LOT Polish Airlines business-class award flights with points and miles. We’ll also briefly take a look at what you can expect when flying in business class with LOT Polish Airlines.

What to Expect in LOT Polish Airlines Business Class

The business-class experience that you receive when flying with LOT Polish Airlines depends on the type of aircraft you’re flying on. The top-tier business-class product can be found on Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner and Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, which are used for long-haul flights from Warsaw to destinations like Mumbai, Delhi, New York, Chicago, Toronto, Seoul, Los Angeles and Tokyo. These aircraft feature 24 business-class seats arranged in a 2-2-2 configuration.

Seats on these Dreamliner aircraft have a width of about 21 inches and a length of nearly 75 inches when reclined into a lie-flat position. These seats also feature an adjustable privacy curtain, an adjustable reading light, a built-in table and a USB port for charging your devices. There will also be a 17.3-inch 4K personal entertainment monitor in the seatback in front of you with access to over 100 films and TV series.

The next-best business-class products in the LOT Polish Airlines fleet are found aboard Boeing 737-800 and Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, which are both used to operate short- and medium-haul flights between Warsaw and destinations such as Rome, Tbilisi, London, Madrid, Barcelona, Larnaca, Reykjavik, Paris, Lisbon and Tenerife. These aircraft types feature 20 business-class seats in a 2-2 configuration (which are technically rows of three seats with the middle seat blocked off in each row).

These Boeing 737 aircraft don’t feature lie-flat seats and, in general, the business-class cabin on these aircraft isn’t much more luxurious than the economy-class cabin. And, these aircraft also don’t feature any in-seat personal entertainment monitor. However, you will be able to access the LOT Polish Airlines wireless in-flight entertainment system from your own personal electronic device. Business-class seats on Boeing 737 aircraft also feature USB charging ports, so you can keep your devices charged.

Finally, the least-impressive business-class products in the LOT Polish Airlines fleets are found on short-haul flights operated with Embraer aircraft (including Embraer 170, Embraer 175, Embraer 190, Embraer 195 and Embraer E195-E2). These aircraft feature business class seats in a 1-1 configuration (which are actually rows of 2 seats with the aisle seat blocked off in each row).

The business-class cabins on these aircraft are essentially the same as the economy-class cabins with the exception that you’re guaranteed your entire row to yourself. These aircraft also don’t have personal entertainment screens and may not even have access to the LOT Polish Airlines wireless in-flight entertainment system.

It’s also worth noting that LOT Polish Airlines has placed an order for 40 Airbus A220 aircraft, which are expected to take flight in 2027. These aircraft are expected to be used for regional flights, and very little information about what their business-class cabins will look like is available.

On long-haul flights, business-class passengers will be greeted with a welcome snack and drink while the aircraft is still on the ground. Later in the flight, you’ll also receive a gourmet meal served on fine porcelain accompanied by a fresh salad and appetizer. You’ll typically be given several options for your main course, including at least one vegetarian option.

Of course, you’ll also have access to complimentary alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages throughout your flight, including a selection of hand-selected fine wines. Finally, you’ll end your meal service with a selection of desserts and cheeses.

On long-haul LOT Polish Airlines flights, business-class passengers will receive an amenity kit containing Natural Phenomé cosmetics (including a refreshing apple cream and lip balm), a bamboo toothbrush, natural toothpaste, an eye mask and a pair of socks. These amenity kits come in recyclable packaging.

Long-haul business-class passengers will also receive soft blankets and pillows, ensuring a restful flight.

And, the LOT Polish Airlines business-class experience begins before you even board your flight. You’ll enjoy priority service at the airport, including a dedicated check-in desk, fast track security, priority boarding and priority baggage claim.

With a LOT Polish Airlines business-class ticket, you can access any LOT Polish Airlines Business Lounge around the world (which are currently only found in Warsaw Chopin Airport and Chicago O’Hare International Airport).

Plus, since LOT Polish Airlines is a member of Star Alliance, you’ll also be able to access Star Alliance partner lounges around the world. To see if there’s a Star Alliance partner lounge in a specific airport, you can search for that airport using the Lounge Finder tool in the My10x web application.

Finally, when flying in LOT Polish Airlines business class, you’ll have an increased baggage allowance. On international flights to or from the United States, you’ll be allowed one carry-on bag (with a maximum weight of 12 kilograms). On international flights to or from China, India, Japan, Canada or South Korea, you’ll be allowed two carry-on bags (with a maximum weight of 9 kilograms each). And, on all international flights, business-class passengers are allowed up to three checked bags (with a maximum weight of 32 kilograms each).

Best Programs Through Which You Can Book LOT Polish Airlines Business Class

Because LOT Polish Airlines is a member of Star Alliance, there are several partner frequent flyer programs through which you can book LOT Polish Airlines business-class award flights. But, every frequent flyer program prices partner award flights slightly differently, which means that the same award might cost more miles through one program than through another. Thus, if you want to maximize the value of your points or miles, you’ll want to book your award through the program that offers the lowest rate.

Some frequent flyer programs are also much easier to earn points with, because they allow transfers from major U.S. credit card rewards programs (such as American Express Membership Rewards or Chase Ultimate Rewards).

So, considering these factors, we’re going to identify some of the best frequent flyer programs through which to book LOT Polish Airlines business-class award flights (as well as include examples of high-value redemptions).

Avianca LifeMiles

One of the best frequent flyer programs through which to book LOT Polish Airlines business-class awards is the Avianca LifeMiles program. This program prices these awards using fixed award charts, which means that you can often find outsized value on redemptions for LOT Polish Airlines business-class flights (especially on transatlantic routes).

For example, we found a round-trip LOT Polish Airlines business-class award itinerary between New York (JFK) and Warsaw (WAW) for 138,000 Avianca miles and about $93 in taxes and fees.

If you were to purchase the same flights with cash through the LOT Polish Airlines website, it would cost you about $4,808.

So, by booking these flights with Avianca miles instead of cash, you’d be getting a redemption value of about 3.4 cents per mile (factoring in the taxes and fees you’d have to pay for the award flight), which is excellent.

Another major advantage of Avianca LifeMiles is the fact that this program is a 1:1 transfer partner of most of the major U.S. credit card rewards programs, including American Express Membership Rewards, Bilt Rewards, Brex, Capital One Rewards, Citi ThankYou Rewards and Wells Fargo Rewards. This means that it’s relatively easy to earn miles with this program if you have a credit card from any of the aforementioned issuers.

Air Canada Aeroplan

Another Star Alliance partner frequent flyer program that’s a good option for booking LOT Polish Airlines business-class awards is Air Canada Aeroplan. Like the Avianca LifeMiles program, this program prices LOT Polish Airlines awards according to fixed award charts. Once again, this means that it’s possible to find LOT Polish Airlines business-class awards that offer outsized value (exceeding 1 cent per point).

For example, we found a round-trip LOT Polish Airlines business-class award itinerary between Chicago (ORD) and Warsaw (WAW) for 140,000 Aeroplan points plus 168 Canadian Dollars (about $122) in taxes and fees.

If you were to book these same flights with cash through the LOT Polish Airlines website, it would cost you about $4,203.

Thus, considering the taxes and fees you’d have to pay for the award flight, this redemption would give you a value of about 2.9 cents per point, which is great.

Air Canada Aeroplan is also a 1:1 transfer partner of many of the major U.S. credit card rewards programs, including American Express Membership Rewards, Bilt Rewards, Capital One Rewards and Chase Ultimate Rewards. So, if you use any of these rewards programs, you can easily earn Aeroplan points, which can then be redeemed for LOT Polish Airlines business-class awards).

United Airlines MileagePlus

Another Star Alliance frequent flyer program through which you can book LOT Polish Airlines business-class award flights is United Airlines MileagePlus. While this program does use a dynamic pricing model to price partner award flights, you can often still find LOT Polish Airlines-operated awards at their bottom-level rate. And, many of these awards also offer high value per mile.

For example, we found a round-trip LOT Polish Airlines business-class award itinerary for 176,000 miles and about $47 in taxes and fees.

If you were to book these same flights with cash through the LOT Polish Airlines website, it would cost you about $4,808.

Thus, by booking these flights with United miles instead of cash, factoring in the taxes and fees paid for the award flight, you’d get a redemption value of about 2.7 cents per mile, which is great.

United MileagePlus is a 1:1 transfer partner of both Bilt Rewards and Chase Ultimate Rewards, which makes it easy to earn United miles if you have a rewards credit card from either of these two issuers. Plus, since United Airlines is one of the “Big 3” U.S. airlines, there’s a good chance you can earn some miles by flying with United as well.

The Bottom Line

Overall, LOT Polish Airlines business class doesn’t rank among the top business-class products in the airline industry. In fact, many travelers have reported being underwhelmed by this airline’s business-class service.

Nonetheless, if you’re traveling to the European nation of Poland and you want an extra measure of comfort, LOT Polish Airlines business class on long-haul routes still includes premium amenities such as lie-flat seats, complimentary beverages (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic), a personal entertainment screen, an amenity kit containing self-care products, priority treatment at the airport, airport lounge access, a gourmet in-flight meal and more.

The cheapest way to experience LOT Polish Airlines business class is by booking these flights with points or miles. In general, the three best programs through which to book these LOT Polish Airlines business-class awards are Avianca LifeMiles, Air Canada Aeroplan and United MileagePlus.

All three of these programs offer high-value redemptions for LOT Polish Airlines business-class awards on transatlantic routes. Plus, all three programs allow 1:1 transfers from major U.S. credit card rewards programs, making it very easy to earn miles. Before booking one of these awards, we recommend comparing rates across all three programs to see which is lowest.
