Group Rules Overview

Please take a few moments to read through our group rules and their overview. Understanding these guidelines will help you appreciate why we uphold them and ensure a positive experience for everyone.

1. Complete our Free Course Before Posting

All community members agree to complete the free self-directed course before engaging in conversation. You can enroll at 10xtravel.com/course

The course provides an overview of what miles and points are all about and completing the course ensures everyone is operating with the same baseline knowledge. We uphold this rule to be fair to the moderators and community members who graciously take their time and energy to respond to and answer posted questions.

2. Be Respectful to Each Other, No Exceptions

As travelers, we have developed the skills and life experience to engage with people of different backgrounds and lived experiences. While we do not have to agree all the time, we do need to treat each other with respect even when we disagree. This includes respecting race, gender, sexual orientation, abilities, and cultures.

Likewise, assume good intent, different people communicate differently and we allow space for all. Many responses will be direct and straight to the point.

3. Use Weekly and Master Posts When Possible

Due to the size of our group and the number of daily posts, we aim to keep our main group feed posts centered around subjects about points and miles. General travel questions are an understandable byproduct of a points and miles group, and are welcome to be asked but we have a special place for them to keep our group running efficiently. #10xTravelTalk is posted 3x weekly for this purpose. The most current version of this master post can always be found in our Featured Posts section (see mobile instructions and desktop instructions for how to find Featured Posts). Some examples of what we would like to be commented in our Travel Talk threads are

  • hotel and destination recommendations
  • trip cancellations, delays, luggage issues
  • seat selection
  • any general travel questions, concerns and issues

In addition, we have other master posts for beginner questions called #10xNoobsday, and #10xFridayBrag to celebrate weekly successes. We may also create master posts for trending topics like the Southwest Companion Pass or expiring card bonuses. If your post is closed and redirected to one of these posts, please understand it creates communal learning for all and keeps things consolidated.

4. Posting Rules

We have some general guidelines for posting etiquette that we ask you to follow:

  • No backgrounds on posts, or unnecessary emojis to draw attention
  • No unnecessary or non-relevant pictures or videos attached to your post
  • Search the group PRIOR to posting to see if your question has already been asked and answered; instructions for how to search the group on mobile and how to search the group on desktop
  • Ask detailed questions, and avoid vague requests for help.
  • For card strategy questions, include your 5/24 status, and any relevant info such as general monthly spend amount. See example:
    • Hi, I am looking for card strategy help for me and my P2. Only P2 is eligible for business cards, and on a monthly basis we spend about $4,000-$6,000. P1 has: CSP 10/23, Amex Personal Gold 2/24, IHG Personal 5/24, SW RR Personal 8/24. P2 has: CSP 12/23, CBIC 3/24, CBIU 6/24.
  • When asking for award search help, please include what searches you have already run, this shows you have done the requisite work vs asking the community to do the work for you and helps avoid duplicate suggestions. See example:
    • Hi, I’m planning a trip to Iceland for June 2025 and would like to use my 175k Chase UR to fund the flights and potentially some hotel nights. Based on multiple searches, United was the only one that I could find saver awards. Before I transfer to United I wanted to confirm if this is a good deal or if I am missing anything. My dates are for the most part fixed but I have wiggle room of 1-2 days on each end. June 15-21, 2025. United 34k/40k 74k miles + $10. Air Canada 39k/45k 84k miles + $156.
5. Keep the Focus on Points and Miles

We pride ourselves on the fact that we allow open posting but we want to keep posts centered around topics that are pertaining to points and miles.

Posts on topics like card strategy, award search help, card benefits, etc. are welcome and allowed. But in order to not clog up the main group feed, general travel questions should be commented in the appropriate #traveltalk threads.

6. Do Not Engage in Solicitation of ANY Kind

We do allow for people to offer up things such as United or Delta lounge access, Hyatt awards, etc., but making posts to ASK is against our group rules. Asking for or sharing referral links is also prohibited. This includes asking people to DM you for links.

There is also no buying/selling of any kind. Links to personal blog posts, social media channels, promoting your business, etc. will be removed.

A first-time infraction will result in a short suspension from the group and a pattern of behavior is grounds for removal from the group.

7. No Direct Messages to Members or Mods

In the spirit of communal learning, upon which this group was made, we ask that there be no direct messages. Keep all conversation public so that the group can benefit. That includes messages to mods, if you have a concern or issue, please use the appropriate channels to contact the mod team.

8. Do Not Block Group Members or Mods

Not everyone will be everyone’s cup of tea. That’s okay. We ask members to not block other members or members of the 10xTravel team. Blocking a 10x team member is immediate grounds for removal from the group.

9. Please Use Affiliate Links When Possible

When you use the links at 10xtravel.com/credit-cards to apply for credit cards it allows us to operate the website, this Insider group, and everything else we do without charging you a dime. We provide many free resources such as our course, cheat sheets, award search tutorials, and more. In exchange, we ask that you use our links to apply for cards vs applying from a public offer; it’s the same offer but it helps support our ability to continue to provide resources to the community.

10. Let Mods Enforce Rules, Respect Their Decisions

We want the members of our community to actively learn from each other in a positive environment. Leave the moderation to the 10x Team.

We are actively trying to decrease negativity and bullying. An example of this we want to discourage is the all-too-common “have you taken the course?” comments.

If you see posts or things going against community guidelines, please instead report such content using the “report to page admin” feature, not by doing your own policing or by tagging individual team members. We do check and monitor all reported posts on a daily basis. Respect moderator decisions; arguing or sending abusive messages is grounds for removal.

How We Moderate the Group

  • We only actively remove posts based upon our rules stated above and will opt to leave posts up with a warning vs. removing a post where the community has already offered help and responsed to respect their time and contribution.
  • We only remove someone from the group as a last resort when there have been repeated infractions.
  • Facebook provides us with an AI admin assistant that helps us moderate the group. Part of its functions are:
    • to remove any comment or post that is reported 5+ times by community members
    • auto-mute posts from new members for 3 days to give individuals time to complete the free course and process the information
    • auto-mute posts from individuals who don’t have a profile picture to reduce spam
    • auto-mute Facebook accounts that are less than 1+ month old to reduce spam, etc.

How to Best Utilize the Group

With a growing community and many questions have been asked and answered multiple times over, so it is best practice to search the group prior to posting. Review the instructions below on how to search within the group for information whether you use the FB mobile app or the desktop website.

In comparison to other FB groups, our Featured Posts are actively used and updated. Please give it a scroll on a weekly basis. It is how we share news, updates, and announcements. Anything of importance in credit cards, points/miles, or within our group will be in a Featured Post.

Our FAQs section in the group addresses many beginner and intermediate topics and serves as a great resource for discovering new and lesser-known aspects of points and miles.

Check out our compilation of our master posts which cover a wide range of topics.

Every quarter, we actively seek your feedback to understand how we can better serve our community. Your insights are incredibly valuable to us, and we take them very seriously. Our ultimate priority is to ensure we meet your needs and help our community thrive. Share your thoughts on our quarterly survey and help us make this group even better!

A Note on Compliance

I notice that you don’t mention the names of certain banks? Why is that?

Because of credit card compliance rules, we’re occasionally unable to mention specific card names, banks, or their branded terms and images in our emails and social media posts. As a result, we sometimes have to use more generic language when talking about certain credit cards.

We know this might be confusing or frustrating, so we invite you to visit our website, where we can openly discuss the cards and their benefits. Despite these limitations, our commitment remains the same: putting our community first and helping you travel better for less.
