JetBlue TrueBlue has added Japan Airlines to its growing list of partner airlines for award redemptions. This means members can now use their TrueBlue points to book flights on Japan Airlines. The new partnership joins recent additions including Hawaiian Airlines, Qatar Airways, TAP Air Portugal, and Icelandair. Booking these awards is simple – just visit the JetBlue website and select “use TrueBlue points” on the homepage.
The new Japan Airlines redemptions come with some good features. You can book economy, premium economy, and business class flights with no carrier surcharges. Awards can be booked for Japan Airlines’ entire global network. While there’s no published award chart, pricing seems to be based on zones and segments. Some sample one-way costs include Los Angeles to Osaka for 64,000 points in business class, London to Tokyo for 79,900 points in business class, and Bangkok to Tokyo for just 30,000 points in business class.

Our Take
Our team believes this is a positive step for the TrueBlue program. JetBlue is clearly working to make its loyalty program more valuable to members. In the past, TrueBlue was pretty basic with few partner options. Now with five partner airlines added in just the last year, members have many more ways to use their points for international travel.
While these Japan Airlines redemptions might not be the absolute best value compared to other programs, they add important flexibility for TrueBlue members. The business class rates to Asia offer decent value, especially for shorter regional flights. We hope to see JetBlue continue adding more airline partners to make TrueBlue points even more useful for travelers looking to maximize their points for global adventures.
