The Big Picture

Turkish Airlines Business Class Review, Istanbul – Hong Kong

I get it, you might be holding off on booking travel because you don’t know if the country you book will be open. Today’s award alert gives you the option to travel to a country that never closed to US citizens: Turkey.

One of the best ways of getting to Turkey is in Turkish Airlines business class. Although they’ve scaled back some of their service during the COVID-19 pandemic, Turkish Airlines is known for its world class lounges and onboard food.

If you’re looking to travel to Turkey or beyond, we have more days with 4 business class seats to share with you than without. Seriously. Out of New York from July 4th on there were only 3 days without 4 seats of business class availability.

One of the reasons this route is so great as well is that it positions you to other flights. I actually found this when I saw a remarkably large amount of award availability to Nepal, as requested by one of our 10xT+ Pro members. If you’re the one who suggested this, just put in KTM instead of IST in your search and you’ll see some great options routing through Turkey.

Other destinations you can go to include Egypt, Dubai, or even the Maldives.

There’s some great options for booking this.

If you want to spend the least amount of points you can book it using LifeMiles (transfer from Citi, Amex, or Capital One) for 63,000 points and about $25 in taxes and fees.

With 70,000 Air Canada Aeroplan points you can book the same ticket, but you’ll pay $56 in taxes and fees. You can transfer Amex to Aeroplan as well, but I’d stick with transferring to LifeMiles. If you already have some Aeroplan points stashed, this is a good way to use them. Keep in mind, with the new Aeroplan program, if you want to continue on elsewhere with a stopover in Turkey it will only be 5,000 more points than whatever your destination costs (traveling elsewhere will likely require more miles than what is published here).

For Chase loyalists, you can book with United for 77,000 points. You’ll pay the lowest in taxes and fees as well at $5.60.

Those with a stash of Citi Thank You points will want to look to Turkish’s own Miles & Smiles program, where you’ll only need 45,000 miles per person.

Available Dates

There’s more days available than not available. Just search between July 4th and December 6th and you’ll find plenty of availability. Seriously, take a look. This shows you every day with 4 seats available between Boston and Istanbul in September and October. Noticing something? Yeah, every day is available!
