The Big Picture
Wide open availability to Europe this summer (2025) for as cheap as 10,000 points per person non-stop in economy. This is flying Virgin Atlantic between SFO, LAX, SEA, LAS, ATL, MCO, MIA, TPA, JFK, BOS, IAD and EDI, LHR, LGW, MAN. If the United Kingdom is not your final destination, it would provide a central location for you to reposition affordably and efficiently within Europe.
Examples of routes (priced per person one way):
- JFK, BOS, IAD to/from London = 10,000
- JFK to/from MAN = 10,000
- TPA, MCO, MIA, ATL to/from London = 12,500
- ATL, MCO to/from MAN = 12,500
- MCO to/from EDI = 12,500
- SFO, LAX, SEA, LAS to/from London = 15,000
- LAS to/from MAN = 15,000
While you can transfer directly from AMEX, Chase, Citi and Bilt directly to Virgin Atlantic, Capital One is actually only partners with Virgin Red (not Virgin Atlantic). This is no problem as you can link your Virgin Red account to your Virgin Atlantic account, and then you will be able to book your flights on Virgin Atlantic using your Capital One points as usual.
Virgin Atlantic is known to hold award fares, so you are welcome to call Virgin Atlantic to hold the fare prior to transferring points. If you want to take advantage of Virgin Atlantic’s companion promo, call in to book and you will receive the second passenger’s award fare 50% off.
All of the dates below have confirmed availability for at least 2 passengers. Expect taxes to be ~$120 per person each way.

To search on Virgin Atlantic, click the “Advanced search” option, and select show price in “Points”. If it will not let you select the show price in points option, change the “one way” box to “multi-city” and then back to “one way”. It can be finicky, but this should allow you to select show price in points. Check the “flexible date” box in order to search via calendar.
