Star Alliance member Singapore Airlines has a reputation for providing an excellent in-flight experience, making it one of the most highly rated airlines in Asia. Singapore Airlines also operates a relatively large route network, including many direct flights from its hub at Singapore Changi Airport (SIN) to cities in Europe and the United States (including Houston, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco and Seattle).

On these long-haul flights, Singapore Airlines premium-economy class offers improved amenities over economy class, such as priority treatment at the airport, an amenity kit containing self-care products, increased legroom and wider seats. In fact, Singapore Airlines was ranked the fourth-best premium-economy airline in the world, according to a 2025 Skytrax ranking.

As cash prices for premium-economy tickets are considerably higher than economy fares, the best way to experience premium-economy class on Singapore Airlines without paying a high out-of-pocket cost is by booking with points and miles.

In this article, we explain what you can expect when flying in Singapore Airlines premium-economy class and look at the best ways to book these flights with points and miles.

What to Expect in Singapore Airlines Premium-Economy Class

Singapore Airlines offers premium-economy service on long-haul flights operated by three of its aircraft types: Airbus A350-900, Airbus A380-800 and Boeing 777-300ER. The following table includes specifications about the premium-economy cabin on each of these three types of aircraft:

Aircraft typeNumber of premium-economy seatsSeat configuration
Airbus A350-900242-4-2
Airbus A380-800442-4-2
Boeing 777-300ER282-4-2

Every premium-economy seat in the Singapore Airlines fleet includes a calf rest and footrest, as well as more space to recline and stretch out. Seats also feature two USB ports and an AC power outlet to charge your devices, plus an adjustable reading light.

Each Singapore Airlines premium-economy seat also has its own 13.3-inch HD touch-screen in-flight entertainment system. This gives you access to KrisWorld, an impressive selection of over 1,800 entertainment options, including movies, television, music, games and apps.

Upon request, all Singapore Airlines premium-economy passengers on flights over seven hours may receive a complimentary amenity kit designed in collaboration with the U.S.-based eco-friendly manufacturer Out of the Woods®. This kit comes in a pouch made of FSC-certified kraft paper and contains slippers, eyeshades and lip balm. Dental kits and moisturizers are also available in the lavatories.

Premium-economy passengers on Singapore Airlines flights can access the “Book the Cook” option, which allows you to select your in-flight meal from six weeks and up to 24 hours before your flight’s departure. On most airlines, the option to select your meal is reserved for business-class passengers or higher.

You can view the Book the Cook options for every route on which premium-economy service is available on the Book the Cook page of the Singapore Airlines website. However, to give you an idea of what to expect, here are the options for premium-economy passengers on flights departing from Los Angeles:

  • Croque Madame (only available for breakfast)
  • Lu Rou Fan (Taiwanese braised pork rice bowl)
  • Pork Congee
  • Katsu Curry (breaded cutlet with curry sauce)
  • Stir-Fried Seafood in XO Sauce
  • Braised Ee Fu Noodles
  • Slow-Cooked Beef Short Ribs
  • Golden Door Portobello Eggplant Vegan Meatballs

With plentiful options to choose from, you’ll surely be able to find something that you like. Book the Cook meals must be reserved no earlier than six weeks and no later than 24 hours prior to your departure.

Singapore Airlines premium-economy passengers are also entitled to complimentary beverages upon request throughout the flight, including alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks.

When ticketed in Singapore Airlines premium-economy class, you’ll receive priority check-in, boarding and baggage handling. On flights to or from Canada and the U.S., Singapore Airlines utilizes a piece concept for baggage allowance. Premium-economy passengers on these flights may bring two pieces of checked baggage (up to 23 kilograms each). On all other flights, Singapore Airlines uses a weight concept for baggage allowance. Premium-economy passengers are allowed up to 35 kilograms total checked baggage on these flights.

Best Programs Through Which You Can Book Singapore Airlines Premium-Economy Class

While Singapore Airlines economy-class and business-class awards can often be booked through Star Alliance partner frequent flyer programs, premium-economy awards can only be booked through Singapore Airlines’ own KrisFlyer frequent flyer program or your credit card’s travel booking portal.

Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer

Singapore Airlines’ KrisFlyer program is a 1:1 transfer partner of several of the major U.S. credit card rewards programs, including American Express Membership Rewards, Brex, Capital One Rewards, Chase Ultimate Rewards and Citi ThankYou Rewards. This means that earning KrisFlyer miles is relatively easy if you have a credit card from any of these issuers.

Plus, you can often find Singapore Airlines premium-economy awards that offer decent value per mile through the KrisFlyer program.

For example, we found a round-trip Singapore Airlines premium-economy award itinerary between San Francisco (SFO) and Singapore (SIN) for 158,000 KrisFlyer miles and about $74 in taxes and fees.

If you were to book these exact same flights with cash instead of miles through the Singapore Airlines website, they would cost you about $2,404.

So, accounting for the taxes and fees you’d have to pay for the award flight, this redemption would give you a value of about 1.5 cents per mile, which is decent for a premium-economy award.

You can also find Singapore Airlines premium-economy awards on many other long-haul routes that offer similar value through this program.

Credit Card Travel Portals

If you don’t use one of the credit card rewards programs that allows transfers to the Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer program, then your best option for booking Singapore Airlines premium-economy flights with points is to use your credit card issuer’s travel booking portal.

For example, the Wells Fargo Rewards program isn’t a transfer partner for Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer. So, if you only have points with this rewards program and you want to book a Singapore Airlines premium-economy award, your best option will be to do so through the Wells Fargo Rewards travel portal.

Through this portal, we found a round-trip Singapore Airlines premium-economy award itinerary between Newark (EWR) and Singapore (SIN) for 209,443 Wells Fargo points. As you can see, you could also book this flight itinerary with cash for about $2,094. So, this redemption would give you a value of 1 cent per point.

This isn’t very good value compared to what you can get by transferring Wells Fargo Rewards points to its transfer partners. So, we typically don’t recommend redeeming credit card points through credit card travel booking portals.

However, if you’re set on booking a Singapore Airlines premium-economy award and you can’t do so through the KrisFlyer program, then using these credit card travel booking portals is your best option.

The Bottom Line

According to a 2025 Skytrax ranking, Singapore Airlines has the fourth-best premium-economy product in the global airline industry. When flying in Singapore Airlines premium-economy class, you’ll receive excellent amenities, including the option to select your own meal, an amenity kit containing self-care products, increased legroom and more comfortable seats and a 13.3-inch personal entertainment monitor.

However, cash prices for premium-economy tickets can be significantly higher than economy fares on Singapore Airlines long-haul flights. So, the best way to experience Singapore Airlines premium-economy class without paying a lot of cash is by booking with points and miles.

Unfortunately, the only frequent flyer program through which Singapore Airlines premium-economy awards are available is its own KrisFlyer program. This frequent flyer program is a 1:1 transfer partner of several major U.S. credit card rewards programs, and you can often find good value on these types of awards through KrisFlyer.

If you don’t have a credit card that allows transfers to the KrisFlyer program, you can still book Singapore Airlines premium-economy award flights through your credit card’s travel booking portal, although you’ll only get a value of 1 cent per point.
