If you plan on taking a trip to Hawaii, there’s a pretty good chance that you’ll be flying on Hawaiian Airlines, one of only two airlines operating flights between the Hawaiian islands. And, if you’ve flown on Hawaiian Airlines before, then you may be familiar with the airline’s HawaiianMiles frequent flyer program. However, this program has undergone some changes recently since the airline was acquired by Alaska Airlines.

For the time being, the two airlines still operate entirely independent frequent flyer programs, but do offer members of both programs the ability to transfer miles freely between them. Thus, if you have a balance of HawaiianMiles that you’d rather use through the Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan program (or vice-versa), you can transfer them freely. However, these two programs will be merging into one loyalty program this year.

That said, we’ll discuss the current Hawaiian Airlines HawaiianMiles program with the caveat that it will be changing in the near future.

The Hawaiian Airlines HawaiianMiles program has good rates on both Hawaiian-operated and partner-operated award flights, due to the fact that it still uses fixed award charts to price all award flights. This means that you can find outsized value per mile for flights that have high cash prices and relatively low award rates.

Unfortunately, one of the biggest drawbacks of the HawaiianMiles program is that partner awards can only be booked over the phone by calling Hawaiian Airlines customer service, which makes it very difficult to find partner award availability.

Nevertheless, in this article, we’re going to take a look at the Hawaiian Airlines HawaiianMiles award charts so you can quickly and easily identify high-value redemptions and get the most value possible out of your HawaiianMiles.

Hawaiian Airlines HawaiianMiles Award Charts

Award Charts for Flights and Upgrades on Hawaiian Airlines

The HawaiianMiles program uses a series of fixed, region-based award charts to price flights operated by Hawaiian Airlines. Please note that if you have Pualani Platinum, Pualani Gold or Premier Club membership within the HawaiianMiles program, you’ll have exclusive access to discounted Main Cabin awards at rates below the levels displayed in the following award charts.

The following award charts are divided by route. The award charts also show rates for Main Cabin 1, Main Cabin 2, Main Cabin 3 and so on. These are different sections within the standard economy class, essentially dividing the Main Cabin category into boarding groups.

In the following sections, we’ll produce the Hawaiian Airlines award charts for each type of route that the airline operates.

Award Charts for Flights on Partner Airlines

In addition to booking award flights on Hawaiian Airlines, HawaiianMiles can also be used to book award flights with certain airline partners, including the following:

  • Japan Airlines
  • JetBlue
  • Korean Air
  • Virgin Atlantic
  • Virgin Australia

Unfortunately, whereas you can book Hawaiian Airlines flights with miles online, the only way to book partner award flights with HawaiianMiles is currently to call Hawaiian Airlines customer service and book over the phone. This makes it much more difficult to find availability on partner award flights.

However, you can see the rates for partner award flights on all available routes by referencing the following award chart for each airline partner.

Note: The last day to book partner award flights with these airlines is June 30, 2025, with travel dates up to Feb. 28, 2026.

Japan Airlines

Hawaiian Airlines publishes a fixed, region-based award chart for Japan Airlines-operated partner award flights. Here are the region definitions used for this award chart:

JetBlue

You can also purchase award flights on JetBlue with HawaiianMiles. However, the number of miles required for a JetBlue-operated flight depends on the cash price of that flight. The following award chart explains how many HawaiianMiles will be required for a JetBlue-operated flight depending on the cash price of that flight:

Estimated JetBlue ticket valueCorresponding award mileage
$0–$990–10,000
$100–$17915,000–20,000
$180–$25925,000–30,000
$260–$33935,000–40,000
$340–$41945,000–50,000

The chart above shows the estimated mileage required. Actual award prices may be slightly higher or lower than those displayed in the chart above.

Korean Air

Korean Air is another airline that accepts HawaiianMiles. However, only itineraries operated entirely by Korean Air are available for purchase with HawaiianMiles. Korean Air-operated award flights are priced according to the following award chart:

RouteCoachBusiness

Between Korea and the U.S.100,000200,000

The rates listed above are for round-trip travel. One-way Korean Air award flights are not available through the HawaiianMiles program. Korean Air first-class tickets are also not available for purchase with HawaiianMiles.

Virgin Atlantic

Up until 2023, HawaiianMiles could be used to book award flights with Virgin Atlantic. However, Hawaiian Airlines has since suspended this option temporarily. It’s unclear when exactly Virgin Atlantic award flights will once again become available through the HawaiianMiles program. Nevertheless, Hawaiian Airlines still publishes the following award chart for Virgin Atlantic-operated award flights:

Virgin Australia

The prices listed in the chart above are for round-trip flights. Only itineraries operated entirely by Virgin Australia are eligible to be purchased with HawaiianMiles.

The Bottom Line

While the Hawaiian Airlines HawaiianMiles program probably isn’t your most-used frequent flyer program (unless you consistently fly to or from Hawaii), this program actually has a lot to offer because it uses a series of fixed award charts to price its own award flights as well as partner award flights (meaning you can potentially find outsized value on certain flight redemptions).

Unfortunately, one main drawback of the HawaiianMiles program is that partner award flights can only be booked over the phone, which makes finding award availability fairly difficult. However, if you’re willing to search for partner award availability through other programs and then book those awards over the phone with HawaiianMiles, you can definitely get good value.

Plus, due to the recent merger between Hawaiian Airlines and Alaska Airlines, you can now freely transfer rewards between Hawaiian Airlines HawaiianMiles and Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan, giving you even more redemption options for both rewards currencies. The two programs will be merging into one loyalty program this year.
