Starting on Thursday, March 21, 2024, Chase will be offering a new welcome bonus with the Ink Business Cash® Credit Card, its no-annual-fee cash back business card. This will be a tiered offer, offering two different cash back bonuses when you hit two different spending thresholds within a certain time period after account opening. Here’s how it works:
- Earn $350 cash back when you spend $3,000 within the first 3 months after account opening.
- Earn an additional $400 cash back when you spend $6,000 within the first 6 months after account opening.
This welcome offer makes it much more accessible for people with lower spending capabilities to earn cash back than the previous welcome offer, which offered a single tier of $750 cash back when you spend $6,000 in the first 3 months after account opening.
Chase Ink Business Cash® Credit Card
Earn $350
bonus cash back when you spend $3,000 on purchases
in the first three months and additional $400 when you spend $6,000 on purchases in the first six months after account opening
With this new welcome offer, people who are able to spend the full $6,000 in the first 6 months after account opening will earn $750, which gives you 3 more months than the Ink Business Cash card’s previous welcome offer. However, those who are only able to spend $3,000 in the first 3 months will also be rewarded with a handsome bonus of $350 cash back (even if they aren’t able to spend the full $6,000 in 6 months). So, this change is either a positive one or a neutral one, depending on your spending capabilities.
However, when signing up for a new credit card, it’s important to consider all of the different features of that card and not just the welcome offer. And it’s also worth noting that only small business owners with solid credit history can qualify for the Ink Business Cash Credit Card.
Let’s take a quick look at the other features that this card offers.
Ink Business Cash Credit Card Spending Bonuses
For a credit card that doesn’t charge an annual fee, the Ink Business Cash Credit Card offers very lucrative spending bonuses, especially for small business owners who spend money in general categories. Here are the spending bonuses offered by this card:
- 5% cash back on the first $25,000 in combined purchases per cardmember year at office supply stores and on internet, cable and phone services
- 5% cash back on qualifying Lyft rides (through March 2025)
- 2% cash back on the first $25,000 in combined purchases per cardmember year at gas stations and restaurants
- 1% cash back on all other purchases
These spending bonuses are some of the best that you’ll find offered by any no-annual-fee card on the market. In particular, the ability to earn 5% cash back in two major business spending categories (as well as on Lyft rides for a limited time) is very impressive.
Ink Business Cash Credit Card Benefits
The Ink Business Cash Credit Card doesn’t include a robust list of benefits like a premium high-annual-fee credit card. However, there are definitely some perks that new cardmembers should be aware of.
The Ink Business Cash Credit Card comes with standard travel and purchase coverage, including:
- Auto rental collision damage waiver
- Travel and emergency assistance services
- Roadside dispatch
- Purchase protection (covers new purchases for 120 days against damage and theft up to $10,000 per claim and $50,000 per account)
- Extended warranty protection
Finally, the Ink Business Cash Credit Card also allows you to add employee cards to your account free of charge. So, you can give your employees their own physical cards and have them earn cash back for you on their purchases.
The Bottom Line
All in all, the Ink Business Cash Credit Card has been one of the best $0-annual-fee business credit cards available for years. And, with the recent change to this card’s welcome offer, things just got even better.
New cardholders can now earn a two-tiered cash back bonus. First, you’ll earn $350 in cash back when you spend $3,000 in the first 3 months after account opening. Then, you can earn an additional $400 cash back when you spend $6,000 in the first 6 months after account opening.
If we compare this to the previous welcome offer of $750 in cash back to new cardholders who spent $6,000 in the first 3 months after account opening, these new changes come as a wholesale improvement. Those who are able to spend $6,000 in 6 months after account opening will receive a total bonus of $750 cash back with 3 more months to meet the spend requirement compared to the previous offer. And now, new cardholders who aren’t able to fully meet that $6,000 spending requirement are still able to earn $350 cash back for spending $3,000 in the first 3 months.
So, if you think you can meet either of these new spending requirements, it may be worth considering signing up for the Ink Business Cash Credit Card from Chase. But, keep in mind that you need to be a small business owner.
