EVA Air is a Taiwanese airline and a member of Star Alliance. From its main hub in Taipei, this airline operates a variety of long-haul international routes to several cities in Europe, North America and Oceania, including New York, Los Angeles, Houston, Chicago, Seattle, London, Vienna, Paris, Brisbane and more. EVA Air also has its own frequent flyer program, known as Infinity MileageLands, through which members can earn reward miles in a variety of ways and redeem those miles for free flights.
The EVA Air Infinity MileageLands program is fairly relevant to U.S.-based travelers due to the fact that this program is a transfer partner of both Capital One Rewards (2:1.5 transfer ratio) and Citi ThankYou Rewards (1:1 transfer ratio). Plus, this program allows you to book award flights with any of its Star Alliance partners and add up to two free stopovers on Star Alliance round-trip award itineraries, which means you can often find excellent value per mile through this program.
Unfortunately, the EVA Air website isn’t very user-friendly and the process of booking award flights through this program can be confusing. So, in this article, we’re going to walk you through the process of booking award flights through EVA Air Infinity MileageLands. We’ll also explain how to enroll in the Infinity MileageLands program and the best ways to rack up miles with it.
Joining EVA Air Infinity MileageLands
Before you can start earning or redeeming miles through EVA Air Infinity MileageLands, you’ll need to be a member of the program. To enroll in the program, visit the EVA Air website and click the “Register” button in the top-right corner of the homepage.

On the next page, click the green “Apply” button under the “Infinity MileageLands Member” column.

From there, you’ll need to enter an email address and create a password that you’ll use to sign in to your account in the future. You’ll also need to enter some personal information, including your name, gender, date of birth, preferred language, nationality and phone number.

You’ll also either need to agree or disagree to receiving certain promotional information from EVA Air and its partners. If you don’t want to receive promo emails from EVA Air or its partners, we recommend clicking “do not agree” for all of the questions on this page.
Once you’ve done that, click the green “Register” button at the bottom of the page to create your EVA Air Infinity MileageLands account. You’ll then be assigned a unique membership number, which you’ll use to earn miles and sign in to your account in the future. You should also receive a welcome email containing this number. We recommend writing down your membership number somewhere you won’t lose it.
How to Earn EVA Air Infinity MileageLands Miles
As a member of the EVA Air Infinity MileageLands program, you’re eligible to book flights with miles. However, before you can book an award flight, you’ll need to save up enough miles to pay for that award flight. The minimum price of an award flight through the Infinity MileageLands program is 6,750 miles, which is enough for a one-way domestic economy flight within Taiwan operated by UNI Air (a subsidiary of EVA Air). So, before you can book an award flight through Infinity MileageLands, you’ll need to have at least 6,750 miles in your account balance (and probably many more).
There are many different ways to earn miles through this frequent flyer program. However, some earning methods are much more effective than others. In the following sections, we’ll identify a few of the most effective ways to earn miles with Infinity MileageLands.
Transfer Credit Card Points
Since most U.S.-based travelers won’t use Infinity MileageLands as their primary frequent flyer program, the best way to earn miles with this program will be to transfer points from either Capital One Rewards or Citi ThankYou Rewards.
The Capital One Rewards program offers a 2:1.5 transfer ratio to Infinity MileageLands and a minimum transfer amount of 1,000 miles. So, if you were to transfer 80,000 Capital One Miles, you would receive 60,000 EVA miles. Unfortunately, since most of Capital One’s other transfer partners offer a 1:1 ratio, transferring to Infinity MileageLands is typically a poor use of Capital One Miles. Nonetheless, if you really want to earn miles with Infinity MileageLands, transferring Capital One Miles can help you do so quickly.
Citi ThankYou Points transfer to the Infinity MileageLands program at a 1:1 ratio (for premium cards, and there’s a minimum transfer amount of 1,000 points). So, if you were to transfer 80,000 ThankYou Points to the Infinity MileageLands program, you would receive 80,000 EVA miles. This means that transferring to the Infinity MileageLands program is actually a pretty good use of Citi ThankYou Points. So, if you have a credit card that earns Citi ThankYou Rewards and is one of their premium cards, this frequent flyer program should definitely be on your radar.
While transferring credit card points to frequent flyer programs is usually instant, transfers from either Capital One Rewards or Citi ThankYou Rewards to the Infinity MileageLands program can take up to three days. You should consider this if you want to transfer points and then redeem those EVA miles for a flight in the near future.
Flying with EVA Air and Airline Partners
Infinity MileageLands members can also earn miles by crediting international flights on EVA Air (or its subsidiary UNI Air) to their account. Unfortunately, you can’t earn miles for taking domestic flights on either of these airlines.
The number of miles you’ll earn on flights with either EVA Air or UNI Air depends on the actual distance of your flight (in miles), your fare type and your status in the Infinity MileageLands program. The following table includes the miles that you’ll earn as a percentage of the actual distance of your EVA Air/UNI Air international flight:
Cabin class | Fare type | EVA miles earned (as a % of actual miles flown) |
---|---|---|
Royal Laurel/Premium Laurel/Business | C | 175% |
Royal Laurel/Premium Laurel/Business | J | 150% |
Royal Laurel/Premium Laurel/Business | D | 125% |
Premium Economy | K | 125% |
Premium Economy | L, T | 115% |
Premium Economy | P | 100% |
Economy | Y, B | 100% |
Economy | M, H, Q | 75% |
Economy | S, W, V | 50% |
For instance, if you were to take an 800-mile international flight on EVA Air in Premium Economy (fare type L), you’d earn 920 EVA miles (800 miles flown x 115% = 920 EVA miles).
Elite status holders in the Infinity MileageLands program also earn bonus miles on every EVA Air or UNI Air flight they take. Silver elite status members earn 15% bonus miles and Gold and Diamond members earn 25% bonus miles.
So, if you took the 800-mile Premium Economy (fare type L) flight from the previous example but you had Gold elite status, you’d earn 1,150 miles instead of 920 miles (920 base miles + 25% bonus = 1,150 EVA miles).
Since EVA Air is a member of Star Alliance, you can also earn EVA miles by taking flights on any Star Alliance airline. Here’s the current roster of Star Alliance airlines:
- Aegean Airlines
- Air Canada
- Air China
- Air India
- Air New Zealand
- All Nippon Airways (ANA)
- Asiana Airlines
- Austrian Airlines
- Avianca
- Brussels Airlines
- Copa Airlines
- Croatia Airlines
- EgyptAir
- Ethiopian Airlines
- EVA Air
- LOT Polish Airlines
- Lufthansa
- Shenzhen Airlines
- Singapore Airlines
- South African Airlines
- Swiss International Air Lines
- TAP Air Portugal
- Thai Airways
- Turkish Airlines
- United Airlines
In addition to the Star Alliance airlines listed above, EVA Air also has partnerships with several other non-Star Alliance airlines that allow you to earn EVA miles on flights. Here are those non-Star Alliance partners:
- Bangkok Airways
- Hainan Airlines
- Shandong Airlines
- Hongkong Airlines
- Juneyao Airlines
To earn EVA miles on any of the airlines listed above, you’ll need to select Infinity MileageLands as your frequent flyer program of choice and enter your membership number either when making your flight booking or when checking in for your flight.
To find out how many EVA miles you could earn on a Star Alliance partner flight, visit the Star Alliance Airline Partners page on the EVA Air website, click on the “Mileage Table” tab and click on the airline that you plan on flying with. From there, you’ll be shown the earnings table for that airline, which works essentially the same way as the earnings chart for EVA Air-operated flights.
To calculate the number of miles you’ll earn, simply multiply the actual distance of your flight (which you can find out using tools like the Great Circle Map) by the percentage associated with your fare type.
Other Ways to Earn
In addition to transferring credit card points and crediting paid flights on EVA Air and its airline partners, there are many other ways to earn miles through the Infinity MileageLands program, including booking hotel stays, renting cars, subscribing to Forbes Asia and more. However, none of these other earning methods are particularly effective on their own.
Nonetheless, if you use the EVA Air Infinity MileageLands program often, then you may want to look into these other earning methods as they could help you earn some extra miles and get closer to your next award flight.

How to Book Award Flights Though EVA Air Infinity MileageLands
Once you’ve saved up enough EVA miles to book an award flight, you can begin the booking process by visiting the EVA Air website and clicking the “Login” button near the top of the homepage and then entering your account credentials. Once you’ve logged in, click the “Mileage Award Program” tab and then click the “Mileage Redemption” button that appears on the drop-down menu.
From there, you’ll be redirected to a new page where you can scroll down until you see the “Award Ticket” box. YClick on that box to proceed to the next step.
Near the top of the next page, there are two tabs: one for flights on EVA Air/UNI Air and another for Star Alliance partner flights. Select whichever kind of award flight you wish to book. Then, toward the bottom of the page, you’ll find a series of links. Select the “Online Ticketing” link to access the online award flight booking portal.
Next, you’ll be brought to the award flight booking portal. From this point, the process of booking an award flight is fairly similar to booking a cash flight. Enter your flight type (round-trip or one-way), departure airport, arrival airport, preferred cabin class and travel dates. If you’re traveling with other Infinity MileageLands members, you’ll need to enter their membership numbers and account passwords in the fields labeled “Travel companion 1” and “Travel companion 2.”
Once you’ve correctly entered all of your flight search information, click the green “Done” button at the bottom of the page to conduct your search. You’ll then be presented with a list of flights that match your search query. You can also choose to see flights on the date before or after your selected date by clicking the “Previous Day” or “Next Day” button.
Each flight listing contains important information about the flight, including departure time, arrival time, departure airport, arrival airport, operating airline, flight number, layovers and flight duration. To see even more information about a flight, click the “Details” button in the bottom-right corner of the listing.
To add a flight to your itinerary, click the dotted circle to the left of that flight listing. Once you’ve selected the flight you want, click the “Confirm” button at the bottom of the screen. You can repeat this process for your return flight if you’re flying round-trip.
After that, you’ll have to enter some personal information about any passengers on your itinerary, including name, title, gender, date of birth, phone number and email address.

Next, you’ll have the option to add certain travel extras to your itinerary, including seat selection, extra baggage, special meals, special assistance and more.
Finally, you’ll need to enter a payment method to cover any applicable taxes and fees for your award itinerary. Once you’ve done so, you can confirm your flight booking and you’ll receive a confirmation number, which you’ll need to check in for your flight. You should also receive a confirmation email containing this number. We recommend writing down this number somewhere so you won’t forget it.
If you wish to cancel an award flight book through EVA Air Infinity MileageLands, you’ll need to visit the Refund Application/Refund Inquiry page of the EVA Air website. Completely unused award tickets are eligible for refunds in the full amount of miles and taxes and fees paid. You may, however, have to pay a refund fee.
The Bottom Line
If you have a credit card that earns Capital One Rewards or Citi ThankYou Rewards, the EVA Air Infinity MileageLands program is certainly worth paying attention to as it’s a transfer partner of both of these credit card rewards programs. EVA Air is also a member of Star Alliance, which means that you can both earn and redeem EVA miles with any other Star Alliance member airline.
Plus, because the Infinity MileageLands program uses fixed award charts to price its own award flights as well as partner award flights, it’s possible to find some high-value redemptions through this program if you’re willing to do some searching.
Unfortunately, the EVA Air website makes the process of booking award flights through Infinity MileageLands fairly confusing. So, we’ve included a step-by-step award booking process in this article that you can refer to if you’re having trouble.
