The Miles & More program is the frequent flyer program of many of the major airlines that fall under the corporate umbrella of the Lufthansa Group, including Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Discover Airlines, Eurowings, ITA Airways and Swiss International Air Lines. The Miles & More program is also used as the frequent flyer program of several non-Lufthansa Group airlines, including Air Dolomiti, Croatia Airlines, LOT Polish Airlines and Luxair.
So, miles can be earned or redeemed with any of the airlines listed above as well as with any Star Alliance member airlines, meaning there are tons of opportunities to earn Miles & More miles on flights, particularly in Europe. However, the Miles & More program doesn’t allow points transfers from any of the major U.S. credit card rewards programs, which makes it harder to earn miles with this program than with other frequent flyer programs.
Unfortunately, as of June 2025, the Miles & More program started using a dynamic pricing model for award flights operated by Austrian Airlines, Lufthansa, Lufthansa City and Swiss International Air Lines, which represents a major devaluation of the program. And, although the program still uses a fixed award chart to price award flights operated by all other Miles & More airlines and Star Alliance partners, this award chart was also devalued in June 2025 as most rates for premium-cabin awards were raised.
Nonetheless, you can still often find high-value redemptions for some Miles & More airline award flights, Star Alliance partner awards and upgrade awards.
In this article, we’ll include the award chart for certain award flights and upgrade awards available through the Miles & More program. We’ll also discuss the dynamic pricing model that’s used for Austrian Airlines, Lufthansa, Lufthansa City and Swiss International Air Lines as of June 2025.
Dynamic Pricing Model for Austrian Airlines, Lufthansa, Lufthansa City and Swiss International Air Lines
Starting in June 2025, the Miles & More program uses a dynamic pricing model for award flights operated by Austrian Airlines, Lufthansa, Lufthansa City and Swiss International Air Lines.
So, when booking award flights with any of these airlines, the mileage rate you’ll pay will be closely tied to the cash rate. This means that you won’t be able to get outsized value on award flights with these airlines.
This is a major devaluation for the Miles & More program, which was once a great place to find transatlantic Lufthansa premium-cabin awards at great rates and other similar high-value awards.
To make matters worse, the program has just begun offering three different award fares for short-haul flights within Europe (Light, Classic and Flex) and four different award fares for long-haul flights (Light, Basic, Basic Plus and Flex). All of these different types of fares include different baggage allowance, seating options and cancellation and rebooking fees. And many of these new fare types offered are far more restrictive than typical award flights.

Miles & More Award Chart for Flights on Other Miles & More Airlines and Star Alliance Partner Airlines
Despite the shift to dynamic pricing for award flights operated by Austrian Airlines, Lufthansa, Lufthansa City and Swiss International Air Lines, the program still uses a fixed region-based award chart for the award flights operated by the following Miles & More airlines:
Air Dolomiti | Eurowings |
Brussels Airlines | ITA Airways |
Croatia Airlines | LOT Polish Airlines |
Discover Airlines | Luxair |
The Miles & More program also allows members to redeem miles for award flights on any airline that’s a member of Star Alliance and prices these awards with the same region-based award chart as the Miles & More airlines listed above. Here is the current roster of Star Alliance airlines:
Aegean Airlines | Ethiopian Airlines |
Air Canada | EVA Air |
Air China | LOT Polish Airlines |
Air India | Lufthansa |
Air New Zealand | Shenzhen Airlines |
All Nippon Airways (ANA) | Singapore Airlines |
Asiana Airlines | South African Airways |
Austrian Airlines | Swiss International Air Lines |
Avianca | TAP Air Portugal |
Brussels Airlines | Thai Airways |
Copa Airlines | Turkish Airlines |
Croatia Airlines | United Airlines |
EgyptAir |
The Miles & More program uses a single fixed region-based award chart to price award flights operated by certain Miles & More airlines (listed above) and all Star Alliance airlines. To use this award chart, find your departure region on the left-hand side and then find the row corresponding to your cabin class within that region. Then, find the intersecting column that corresponds to your arrival region to find the mileage required for that award flight.
The following table includes the countries that are included in each region:

1 Only applies to flights on Brussels Airlines.
The mileage rates included in the award chart above are for round-trip travel. If you wish to know the cost of a one-way award flight, simply divide the applicable rate listed above in half.
So, for instance, a round-trip, economy-class flight between Switzerland (which is in the Europe region) and Canada (which is in the North America region) would cost you 50,000 miles. However, a one-way, economy-class flight on this same route would cost you 25,000 miles.
The Miles & More program also publishes another small award chart that applies to round-trip domestic flights operated by eligible airlines (both Miles & More airlines and Star Alliance airlines) as well as three-regions award flights, which are flights that include a long stopover in a third region (for example, New York – Frankfurt – Bangkok):
Flight type | Cabin class | Mileage required |
---|---|---|
Domestic (within Europe) | Economy | 25,000 |
Business | 40,000 | |
Domestic (outside of Europe) | Economy | 28,000 |
Business | 40,000 | |
First | 55,000 | |
Three-regions award flights | Economy | 95,000 |
Premium Economy | 140,000 | |
Business | 215,000 | |
First | 330,000 |
Again, the award chart above applies to round-trip flights. To calculate the mileage required for a one-way domestic flight or one-way three-region award flight, simply divide the applicable value from the chart above in half.
For instance, a domestic, round-trip, business-class flight within Spain (which is within Europe) would cost 40,000 miles. As another example, if you were to book a domestic one-way, first-class flight within Canada (which is outside of Europe), it would cost 27,500 miles (55,000 miles / 2 = 27,500 miles).
As an example of a three-region award flight, you could book a business-class flight departing from Honolulu (which is in the Hawaii region) with a stopover in Tokyo (which is in the Far East region) that has a final destination in Munich (which is in the Europe region) for 215,000 miles. Booking a three-region award flight often requires fewer miles than booking two separate award flights, so you should look into this option if you’re planning to make a stopover.
Miles & More Award Chart for Star Alliance World Award Flights
Through the Miles & More program, you can use your miles to book a Star Alliance World Award Flight, which allows you to create a flight itinerary that includes up to seven stopovers and includes flights operated by several different Star Alliance airlines. Here are some of the important rules to know about creating a World Award Flight:
- Your itinerary can include up to seven stopovers.
- Your itinerary can include up to 10 flight segments.
- Your itinerary must include one flight across the Atlantic Ocean and one flight across the Pacific Ocean.
- There must be at least 10 days between your first and last international flight.
- Your World Award Flight is valid for up to 12 months from the start of your first flight segment and you must commence the last flight segment no later than the last day of validity.
- World Award Flight bookings can only be made by calling the Miles & More Service Team at 1-800-581-6400.
The following chart includes the mileage required for World Award Flights in each cabin class:
Cabin class | Mileage required |
---|---|
Economy | 195,000 |
Business | 400,000 |
First | 540,000 |
If you have a large sum of Miles & More miles and a lot of time to travel, then booking a World Award Flight is a great way to get good value out of your miles. Plus, it’s a very affordable way to book the trip of a lifetime.
Miles & More Award Charts for Upgrade Awards
The Miles & More program also allows members to redeem miles for cabin class upgrades on all Miles & More airlines as well as on Star Alliance airlines. These upgrade awards are also priced according to fixed region-based award charts.
There’s one upgrade award chart for flights operated by Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, SWISS, Brussels Airlines, Discover Airlines, Lufthansa City and LOT Polish Airlines. Every other Star Alliance partner has its own unique award chart. In the following sections, we’ll include the upgrade award charts for Miles & More airlines and each individual Star Alliance partner.
The regions used in all of the following award charts are the same as those used in the award charts for award flights.
Upgrades on Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, SWISS, Brussels Airlines, Discover Airlines, Lufthansa City and LOT Polish Airlines
Here’s the award chart used to price upgrades on any of the airlines listed above within one region:

The Bottom Line
The Miles & More program is a frequent flyer program owned and operated by the Lufthansa Group and used by all of the airlines owned by the Lufthansa Group, including Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Discover Airlines, Eurowings, ITA Airways and Swiss International Air Lines. The program is also the frequent flyer program of several non-Lufthansa Group airlines, including Air Dolomiti, Croatia Airlines, LOT Polish Airlines and Luxair. Between all of these airlines and the program’s Star Alliance partners, you can earn and redeem Miles & More miles with many different airlines.
Unfortunately, the Miles & More program doesn’t allow points transfers from any of the major U.S. credit card rewards programs (such as American Express Membership Rewards or Chase Ultimate Rewards), which makes it harder to earn miles with the Miles & More program compared to other frequent flyer programs that allow these types of transfers.
And, on top of that, this program switched to a dynamic pricing model for award flights operated by Austrian Airlines, Lufthansa, Lufthansa City and Swiss International Air Lines in June 2025, resulting in a severe devaluation.
Nonetheless, if you take many flights around Europe on Miles & More airlines, you may want to pay attention to this program, especially because it still uses fixed region-based award charts to price Star Alliance partner award flights, award flights operated by other Miles & More airlines (apart from Austrian Airlines, Lufthansa, Lufthansa City and Swiss International Air Lines) and upgrade awards (although the rates for many of these awards also increased in June 2025). This means that you should be able to find outsized-value redemptions through the Miles & More program with a bit of searching.
