JetBlue is making a notable entry into the premium credit card market with its new JetBlue Premier Card. Announced in conjunction with their plans to open two airport lounges, this card is made for travelers seeking extra value from their JetBlue experiences. The card includes a points earning structure with 6X TrueBlue points on JetBlue and Paisly purchases, alongside 2X points for dining and qualifying grocery transactions. The annual fee is set at $499, with each authorized user costing an additional $150.

Beyond points, JetBlue Premier cardholders are entitled to a variety of travel perks, including Group A boarding and a complimentary first checked bag on JetBlue flights. Benefits are further extended with a $300 Paisly purchase credit per calendar year, plus Priority Pass Select lounge access. Enhanced travel convenience is offered through a $120 credit for Global Entry or TSA PreCheck every four years. While details about JetBlue lounge access were not definitively stated, it seems anticipated. The introductory bonus remains undisclosed, but speculation is high around a competitive offer.

Benefits of the JetBlue Premier Card

Our Take

Most people will already have Priority Pass lounge access by the time it makes sense to consider getting this card, so lounge access itself is likely not a high driver for this card. Although JetBlue’s lounge network will start with two lounges, we can’t imagine there will be much expansion past that in the near future to make having this card worthwhile at the moment. Not just that, but the earning rates aren’t particularly great unless you’re spending a lot on JetBlue and Paisly purchases. And lastly, the $300 credit for Paisly purchases is hard to justify when there are cards like the Chase Sapphire Reserve® and Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card with much better credits and lounge networks for the same price point as the new JetBlue Premier Card.

In our opinion, the JetBlue Premier Card caters to frequent JetBlue flyers looking to maximize their travel experiences, though the card might not be for most people. The card’s strengths lie in its ability to bundle high reward rates for JetBlue and Paisly purchases with exclusive travel advantages like lounge access and boarding privileges. However, the high annual fee and additional costs for authorized users may warrant careful consideration for those not consistently spending with JetBlue.
