Social Distancing Saturday is a new series by 10xTravel that shares ideas for how to pass the time while you are doing your part to prevent the spread of COVID-19 by engaging in #SocialDistancing. These pieces will not be directly related to points, miles, or travel, but rather are being shared just to help bring some joy to anyone who needs it in these difficult times.

Welcome to another edition of Social Distancing Saturday!

Today is a bit of a mixed bag of content for you.

First, I am going to make you laugh. Then, I am going to share a few ideas for projects you can do around the house while stuck at home. And finally, we have opened more 15 minute video chats that you can schedule right now.

Let’s get to it.

First, the Laughs

Here is a small collection of videos from around the web that made me literally laugh out loud this week.

Project Ideas for Around the Home

Next let’s talk about some projects you can do around the home. Quite literally.

Have you ever heard the expression “when all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail”?

It’s a somewhat dated way of saying that people have a tendency to default to using the tools that they know, even if said tools are not the best fit for the job.

Anyway, I think I have discovered a more modern equivalent of this expression.

Here is goes: “when all you have is a power washer, everything suddenly needs to be power washed”.

That’s right, I bought a power washer last week off of Amazon and suddenly there isn’t enough time in the day to power wash all the things that need to be power washed.

It was only $150, its incredibly easy to use, and it runs on electric. So you don’t have to compromise your #SocialDistancing to go to the gas station before firing it up.

So far I have used mine for all of the following:

  1. My deck
  2. My outdoor furniture
  3. My driveway
  4. The siding on my home
  5. My front walkway
  6. The floor of my garage

(Apologies for the stock photos, I am not crazy about sharing pictures of my house on the internet)

Next week I plan on using it to wash my windows, clean out my gutters, and for the dozens of other uses that will inevitably pop up.

With the weather finally warming up across the country + nationwide lockdowns there has quite literally never been a better time in history to buy and start using a power washer.

More 15 Minute Chats with the 10xT Team

Last week we announced the launch of “15 Minute Chats with the 10xT Team” to create an opportunity for readers to get 1:1 attention for help with cancelled travel plans, general points & miles strategy, or just to talk to another human being for a while.

The time slots filled up almost immediately and we ended up hosting more than 60 different sessions. So of course we are going to do more of these in the coming week, even adding additional 10xT team members to accommodate as many sessions as possible.

You can sign up for a time slot by visiting this link and choosing the date and time most convenient for you.

All time slots are first come, first served and availability updates in real time. We will continue to add more availability as we go so be sure to check back every now and again.

We will continue to make ourselves available to you until everyday life returns to somewhat normal.

That’s all for today. Enjoy the rest of your #SocialDistancingSaturday !

Happy Travels,

Bryce

P.S. We are currently working on an “easter egg hunt” of sorts to share with all of you very soon (some details have already been shared in our Insiders Facebook Group). But instead of candy, these easter eggs will help you earn more points & miles. More details coming soon.

P.P.S. We were very surprised to learn that our business might qualify for some of the government stimulus money, despite being the furthest thing from a “traditional small business” that one could imagine. If you own a business of any kind I would highly encourage you to check out this quick overview of how the CARES Act work, courtesy of our friends at Stansbury Weaver.
