The Turkish Airlines Miles&Smiles program has long been a favorite among points and miles enthusiasts, even those who have never been to or have no plans of visiting Türkiye. This is because Turkish Miles&Smiles still uses a single award chart to price its own award flights and another award chart to price all partner award flights.

Because of this, it’s still possible to find awards that exceed 1 cent per point in value if you’re willing to do some searching. On top of that, the Turkish Miles&Smiles program is a transfer partner of Capital One Rewards, Citi ThankYou Rewards and Bilt Rewards, which means that Turkish miles are fairly easy to earn (as long as you have the right credit card).

So, if you’re interested in taking advantage of what Turkish Airlines Miles&Smiles has to offer, it’s worth getting familiar with the Miles&Smiles award charts. These award charts define the redemption rates of awards and upgrades on flights operated by Turkish Airlines, Star Alliance carriers and non-alliance partners.

The following award charts can be referenced to find the price of an award that you’re planning on booking or to identify sweet spots that offer outsized value.

Miles&Smiles Award Chart for Turkish Airlines Flight Awards

Of course, Turkish miles can be redeemed through the Miles&Smiles program for flights operated by Turkish Airlines, which are priced according to a region-based award chart.

Turkish Airlines award flights are available at both Promotional rates as well as Standard rates. Award tickets at Promotional rates require fewer miles. However, Promotional award tickets have less availability than regular award tickets.

The rates for both types of tickets are listed in the chart below.

After recent changes to the Turkish Miles&Smiles program, all Turkish-operated award flights available through this program are now priced per segment.

For instance, a nonstop Standard economy-class one-way award ticket between Region 1 and Region 11 would cost 65,000 miles. However, a Standard one-way economy-class award ticket between Region 1 and Region 11 with a layover in Region 2 would be priced per segment and would require more miles (the sum of miles required for each segment).

In addition to the mileage rates listed above, Miles&Smiles members are also required to pay applicable taxes and fees in cash when booking award flights operated by Turkish Airlines.

Miles&Smiles Award Chart for Partner Flight Awards

Through the Miles&Smiles program, you can also use miles to book award flights operated by Star Alliance member airlines.

Here are the current members of Star Alliance (all of which you can book award flights with through the Miles&Smiles program):

Award flights operated by all Star Alliance partner airlines are priced according to a single award chart. It’s also worth noting that Turkish Airlines has several non-alliance partners, including Azul, IndiGo, Olympic Air, GOL and Oman Air. However, the Miles&Smiles program allows you to earn miles for flying with these non-Star Alliance airlines but not redeem miles for award flights on these non-Star Alliance airlines.

Once again, all Star Alliance-operated award flights (except for flights operated by Turkish Airlines) are priced using the same award chart. However, the Star Alliance award chart published on the Turkish Airlines website is rather large and confusing. So, to simplify things, we’ve broken this award chart into three separate award charts organized by cabin class.

Unlike Turkish Airlines-operated awards, partner-operated award flights are priced per direction and not per segment. So, the miles required for a one-way partner-operated award flight would be the same whether that flight were nonstop or involved layovers.

Economy Class

The following award chart applies to one-way Star Alliance-operated award flights in economy class. The following values are expressed in thousands of Turkish miles:

Now that you’re familiar with which Star Alliance flights are eligible for upgrade awards through the Miles&Smiles program, let’s look at the rates for each upgrade award.

There are two types of Star Alliance upgrade awards available through the Miles&Smiles program: upgrades from economy to business class and upgrades from business to first class. So, to make things easier to understand, we’ve separated these award charts by the type of upgrade.

The Bottom Line

While many frequent-flyer programs have converted to a dynamic pricing model to price award flights, the Turkish Airlines Miles&Smiles program still uses region-based award charts to price its own award flights and upgrade awards as well as flight awards and upgrade awards on Star Alliance partners. This means that Miles&Smiles members can find redemptions that offer outsized value exceeding 1 cent per mile.

So, if you currently have a balance of Turkish miles in your Miles&Smiles account or you’re thinking of transferring points from one of the credit card rewards programs that partners with Turkish Miles&Smiles (including Capital One Rewards, Citi ThankYou Rewards and Bilt Rewards), then familiarizing yourself with these Miles&Smiles award charts is a good idea.
