All Nippon Airways is one of the largest Japanese airlines and a member of Star Alliance. The Tokyo-based airline is known for providing excellent customer service and a relaxing in-flight experience. And, according to a SKYTRAX ranking, ANA had the third-best business-class product in the airline industry in 2024. Known as The Room, the ANA business-class product on their Boeing 777-300ER aircraft truly makes you feel as though you have your own room and, of course, includes top-of-the-line amenities like gourmet Japanese cuisine, business-class lounge access, an entertainment system and more.

However, because ANA provides such an amazing in-flight experience for business-class passengers, cash prices for ANA business class can be astronomically high. So, for many budget travelers, the only realistic way to experience this business-class product is going to be to book with points or miles.

So, in this article, we’ll describe the amenities available in ANA business class and then explain the best ways to book ANA business class with points or miles.

What to Expect in ANA Business Class

If you wish to book The Room, ANA’s best business-class product, you’ll need to ensure that you’re booking a business-class seat on an ANA Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. This product is known for its wide seat that converts into a lie-flat bed, sliding door ensuring total privacy and personal 24-inch 4K entertainment monitor. You also have the ability to adjoin your space with the seat next to you if you have a travel companion.

If you’re flying on an ANA Boeing 787-9, 787-8, 787-10, 777-300ER or Airbus A380, you may be seated in ANA Business Staggered. While not quite as luxurious and spacious as The Room, ANA Business Staggered still has lie-flat seats that are staggered to provide more privacy. You’ll also have several storage areas for your luggage and a 17-inch touchscreen LCD entertainment monitor.

On ANA Boeing 787-8 and 767-300ER aircraft, you may be seated in ANA Business Cradle, which is a step below ANA Business Staggered. This product doesn’t feature lie-flat beds. However, the seats do recline within the spacious 59-inch seat pitch. There’s also a 12.1-inch touchscreen entertainment panel and four-way adjustable footrest.

No matter which aircraft you’re flying on or which business-class configuration you’re seated in, you’ll receive certain perks at the airport, including Star Alliance Gold Track security clearance, priority boarding, ANA business-class lounge access and access to the ANA Arrival Lounge if you’re flying into Narita International Airport.

All business-class products also feature a premium selection of wine, champagne, sake, specialty coffee and more on-board. Business-class passengers will also receive gourmet meals designed in collaboration with world-famous restaurant Ginza Okuda on most routes from Tokyo to North America, Europe, Mexico and Oceania.

Finally, all business-class passengers will receive a bed pad, comforter and pillow to ensure a restful flight. There will also be an amenity kit waiting at your seat containing Aveda self-care products if you’re flying between Japan and North America, Europe, Oceania or Mexico City.

Best Programs Through Which to Book ANA Business Class

Since ANA is a member of Star Alliance, you can book ANA-operated award flights through any Star Alliance frequent flyer program. However, ANA award flights are priced differently through each program. So, in the following sections, we’ll look at some of the frequent flyer programs that offer the most favorable pricing for ANA awards.

ANA Mileage Club

When it comes to booking most ANA round-trip flight awards, the best frequent flyer program to use is ANA’s own program: ANA Mileage Club. This program prices ANA-operated award flights according to a series of zone-based award charts. These award charts have different prices for low season, regular season and high season.

If you can find ANA business-class award availability during low season, you can often get excellent value per mile. And, even during regular season and high season, you can often get good value.

For example, we found a round-trip ANA business-class flight from Tokyo (NRT) to Chicago (ORD) during low season in February 2026 for 100,000 miles plus $495 in taxes and fees.

Considering that the cash price for this same flight is massive, this is actually a fantastic deal. If you were to book the same ANA business-class flight on the same date with cash, it would cost you about $9,305.

Calculating the taxes and fees you’d have to pay for this award flight, this redemption would give you a value of about 8.8 cents per point.

Unfortunately, as you can see in the screenshot above, there was no-business class availability left on this flight. Due to the popularity of The Room business class and the amazing value per mile you can get through these redemptions, you’ll need to book these flights very far in advance to have any chance of successfully finding The Room business-class award space through the ANA Mileage Plan program. You should have an easier time finding availability on other aircraft types, but you won’t get ANA’s top-tier business-class product.

It’s worth noting that the only major U.S. credit card rewards program that allows points transfers to ANA Mileage Club is American Express Membership Rewards. So, if you don’t have an Amex credit card, you’ll probably have to earn ANA miles by crediting Star Alliance flights, hotel stays or car rentals to the program.

Virgin Atlantic Flying Club

If you want to book a one-way ANA business-class award flight, one of the best frequent flyer programs through which to do so is Virgin Atlantic Flying Club. However, you’ll want to make sure that you’re booking nonstop flights, as Virgin Atlantic Flying Club charges extra points for connecting flights.

The Virgin Atlantic Flying Club program is also a 1:1 transfer partner of far more U.S. credit card rewards programs than ANA Mileage Club, including American Express Membership Rewards, Bilt Rewards, Capital One Rewards, Chase Ultimate Rewards, Citi ThankYou Rewards and Wells Fargo Rewards. So, for most U.S. consumers, earning Virgin points is going to be far easier than earning ANA miles.

Unfortunately, you can’t book ANA award flights online through the Virgin Atlantic Flying program. So, you’ll have to search for ANA business-class award availability through another frequent flyer website (such as United Airlines MileagePlus) and then call Virgin Atlantic Flying Club customer service with the flight information for the ANA award that you wish to book.

While this process is slightly more time-consuming than booking directly online, it may be worth it for the value per point that you can get. ANA business-class awards are priced according to a fixed, region-based award chart. Here are the rates for one-way ANA business-class flights between Japan and different regions in the U.S.:

  • Japan–Hawaii: 37,500 points
  • Japan–Canada and Western U.S.: 55,000 points
  • Japan–Central and Eastern U.S.: 70,000 points

As shown above, ANA business-class flights on these routes can cost several thousand dollars. Thus, you can definitely find great value per point by booking ANA business-class flights with Virgin points.

Etihad Guest

The Etihad Guest frequent flyer program also offers favorable pricing for ANA business-class flights. Unfortunately, just like Virgin Atlantic Flying Club, Etihad Guest doesn’t allow members to book ANA-operated award flights through their website. Instead, you’ll need to search for award availability through another frequent flyer program’s website (such as United Airlines MileagePlus) and then complete your booking through the Etihad Guest call center.

ANA-operated flights are priced according to a fixed, distance-based award chart through the Etihad Guest program, which means you should definitely be able to find outsized-value redemptions when searching for ANA business-class awards. All ANA business-class flights between Japan and the U.S. will fall into one of the following distance ranges and be priced accordingly:

  • 3,001–4,000 miles (i.e. Tokyo to Honolulu): 80,000 miles
  • 4,001–5,000 miles (i.e. Tokyo to Seattle): 100,000 miles
  • 5,001–6,000 miles (i.e. Tokyo to Los Angeles): 120,000 miles
  • 6,001+ miles (i.e. Tokyo to Miami): 140,000 miles

The rates listed above are for one-way ANA business-class flights. As you can see, these rates are considerably higher than those charged by Virgin Atlantic Flying Club. However, considering the extremely high cash prices for ANA business-class flights, you can still get excellent value per mile by redeeming Etihad Guest miles this way.

Etihad Guest miles are also very easy to earn for U.S.-based travelers since the program is a 1:1 transfer partner of American Express Membership Rewards, Capital One Rewards and Citi ThankYou Rewards.

The Bottom Line

Tokyo-based airline ANA provides one of the best business-class products in the airline industry. However, due to the demand for ANA business class (in particular, The Room business class), cash prices for these tickets have become incredibly high. Flights across the Pacific Ocean can cost around $10,000 or more for an ANA business-class flight. So, for many travelers, the only way to experience ANA business class is to book with points or miles.

Since ANA is a member of Star Alliance, you can book ANA business-class award flights through many Star Alliance frequent flyer programs, such as ANA Mileage Club, Virgin Atlantic Flying Club, Etihad Guest, Air Canada Aeroplan, United Airlines MileagePlus and more. However, since many of these programs use dynamic pricing models, you won’t always get very good value per mile when booking ANA business-class flights.

But, by booking ANA business-class award flights through frequent flyer programs that use fixed award charts (such as ANA Mileage Club, Virgin Atlantic Flying Club or Etihad Guest), you can often find redemptions that offer very high value per mile. However, if you want to book an ANA business-class award flight through any frequent flyer program, you’ll have to book far in advance. Due to the excellent value that these redemptions offer, availability is filled very quickly.
