There’s no better way to reward yourself than to go on an exciting and memorable trip. But before all the fun and games, you’ll need to prepare a long list of things, such as a detailed itinerary, a relaxing hotel to stay in and an affordable flight to your dream destination.

Luckily, Capital One lets you transfer your miles to gain exclusive access to its airline and hotel loyalty programs.

Using your Capital One credit card allows you to earn miles after every purchase, regardless of the spending category. So, whether you’re buying a cup of coffee, shopping for new clothes or filling up your car’s gas tank, you can keep accumulating miles and splurge on endless flight and hotel options.

Overview of Capital One’s Transfer Partners

Although Capital One began partnering with its transfer partners in 2018, it’s come a long way. More than 15 airline and three hotel loyalty programs partner with Capital One. We can also expect the program to add more partners to the list in the coming years.

One remarkable thing about these airline and hotel loyalty programs is that you can transfer your Capital One Venture Miles to get affordable award tickets or hotel bookings.

You can even upgrade to business or first class on luxurious airlines for a cheaper cost. But of course, these awards vary since their transfer partners don’t all have the same 1:1 transfer ratio.

Although Capital One Venture Miles transfer to most partners at a 1:1 ratio, you may encounter airlines and hotels with a less desirable ratio of 2:1 or 2:1.5. Instead of getting the exact miles transferred to your loyalty program, you’ll receive only 500 or 750 loyalty points for every 1,000 Capital One miles transferred.

Let’s take a brief look at these transfer partners to help you choose the best deals.

Capital One Airline Transfer Partners

Aeroméxico Club Premier

Miles transfer to Aeroméxico 1:1, and the transfer is instant.

Aeroméxico is a member of SkyTeam, the second largest airline alliance in the world, which means you can also book flights with partner airlines, such as Delta Air Lines, Air France and KLM.

The airline offers an award chart based on the travel season and whether you’re flying in coach or business class. It also offers generous business class award tickets to Southeast Asia and Europe, but it adds fuel surcharges to your expenses.

Air Canada Aeroplan

Venture Miles transfer to Air Canada 1:1, and the transfer is instant.

As a member of Star Alliance, Air Canada lets you book flights with airline partners, such as Singapore Airlines and Lufthansa. Additionally, Aeroplan offers a mix of a region- and a distance-based award chart that determines the cost of flights.

Air Canada also lets you add a stopover even on a one-way ticket when you book it with points.

Air France-KLM Flying Blue

Miles transfer to Air France-KLM 1:1, and the transfer is instant.

Air France-KLM is another member of the SkyTeam, along with Aeroméxico. Its loyalty program Flying Blue has one of the most lucrative promo rewards that offer anywhere between 25% to 50% discounts on their flights. However, expect to pay fuel surcharges on top of redemption rates.

Avianca LifeMiles

Venture Miles transfer to Avianca 1:1, and the transfer is instant.

If you’re looking for an airline that gives flexibility to your travel class on connecting flights, Avianca is an option worth considering.

The carrier is part of the Star Alliance, like Air Canada and Singapore Airlines, so you can easily book flights operated by these airlines. In addition, LifeMiles also has some of the highest promo bonuses on miles sales, reaching 150% or more.

You can book Intra-Europe short-haul flights of up to 650 flight miles for just 4,500 Chase Ultimate Rewards points when transferred to and booked via British Airways Executive Club.

British Airways Avios Executive Club

Capital One miles transfer to British Airways 1:1, and the transfer is instant.

One of the recent additions to Capital One’s airline partners is British Airways. Apart from being a member of the Oneworld alliance, British Airways also has partnered with other independent airlines, such as Comair and Sun-Air of Scandinavia, so you can book flights to tons of destinations.

The distance-based award chart makes short trips even more worthwhile, unlike the region-based award charts of other airlines.

Cathay Pacific Asia Miles

Miles transfer to Cathay Pacific 1:1, and the transfer takes up to 36 hours.

Cathay Pacific is another Oneworld member known for its excellent business- and first-class experience. Although they add fuel surcharges to award bookings, you’ll enjoy the flexibility on their routes.

You’ll also find their first class cabin enormous with enough space for comfort and privacy.

Emirates Skywards

Venture Miles transfer to Emirates 1:1, and the transfer is instant.

Unlike the previous airlines we enumerated, Emirates isn’t part of any large airline alliance. But they do have limited partners, such as Qantas and Air Malta.

As a result, their fuel surcharges are sometimes much lower than others, and their round-trip award tickets and stopover guidelines are also pretty attractive. But recently Emirates did increase surcharges on their own tickets, making their miles less appealing.

Etihad Guest

Miles transfer to Etihad 1:1, and the transfer takes up to 36 hours.

Etihad also isn’t part of any airline alliance, but it has more partners than Emirates. You can book flights with American Airlines, Air Canada and Virgin Australia, to name a few.

EVA Air Infinity MileageLands

Miles transfer to EVA Air 2:1.5, and the transfer takes up to 36 hours.

You can grab a business class award ticket to international flights with EVA Air. This five-star Taiwanese airline has similar flight routes to Air Canada and Singapore Airlines but offers attractive stopover guidelines for every round trip you take.

Finnair Plus

Capital One Miles transfer to Finnair 1:1, and the transfer is instant.

If you’re going on a trip within Northern Europe, North America or the Middle East, Finnair has some great deals, such as 45,000 miles for an economy flight or 80,000 miles in business class from the U.S. to either Dubai, United Arab Emirates, or Tel Aviv, Israel.

It’s also a member of the Oneworld alliance, so booking partner flights is easy.

Qantas Frequent Flyer

Miles transfer to Qantas 1:1, and the transfer takes up to 36 hours.

Qantas is also a Oneworld member with a distance-based award chart. Because of this, you’ll likely get more out of your Capital One miles when you book short trips on this airline and its other alliance members.

Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer

Miles transfer to Singapore Airlines 1:1, and the transfer takes up to 36 hours.

Star Alliance includes the luxurious Singapore Airlines, known for its exclusive Suite Class. They also offer reasonable award tickets and are worth considering if you’re venturing within the United States or to Hawaii.

You can even combine your Capital One Venture Miles with your other rewards from major credit cards and pool them into one KrisFlyer account.

TAP Air Portugal Miles&Go

Miles transfer to TAP Air Portugal 1:1, and the transfer is instant.

Flights within Europe are relatively reasonable on TAP Air Portugal, another Star Alliance member. They also have generous stopover policies for travelers who want to explore and unwind in a different place before reaching their final destination.

You can add a stopover to Portugal’s most popular cities when you book using your miles or cash.

Turkish Airlines Miles&Smiles

Capital One miles transfer to Turkish Airlines 1:1, and the transfer takes up to 24 hours.

Turkish Airlines is part of the Star Alliance with the most generous award tickets to the U.S. in business class. But you’ll also find great deals in Asia, Europe and the Middle East.

You can book intra-Europe flights with any Star Alliance member for as few as 25,000 miles in business class and 40,000 miles in first class. Business-class flights from the U.S. to Turkey start at 45,000 miles.

Virgin Red

Miles transfer to Virgin Red 1:1, and the transfer takes up to 36 hours.

The most recent addition to Capital One’s transfer partners is Virgin Red, which includes Virgin Atlantic, Virgin Australia, Virgin Voyages, etc. While they’re not currently part of any airline alliance, they still have partners like All Nippon Airways, Delta Air Lines and Hawaiian Airlines.

Capital One Hotel Transfer Partners

Accor Live Limitless

Miles transfer to Accor 2:1, and the transfer takes up to 36 hours.

Although Accor isn’t widely known, it has a lot to offer. It has more than 5,100 hotels in 100 countries. They also have 43 hotel brands, including the luxurious Fairmont hotel and more budget-friendly accommodations like Novotel.

Choice Hotels Choice Privileges

Miles transfer to Choice Hotels 1:1, and the transfer takes up to 24 hours.

Choice Hotels is among the newest additions to Capital One’s hotel transfer partners. They have about 7,000 properties worldwide, making them a top choice if convenience is on your checklist. They have budget-friendly lodging, luxurious hotels and all-inclusive resorts.

Wyndham Rewards

Venture Miles transfer to Wyndham 1:1, and the transfer is instant.

Cards to Help You Earn Capital One Miles

Earning Capital One Miles is as easy as transferring and using them on their airline and hotel loyalty programs. But before choosing from their three Venture credit cards, make sure to look at your purchasing habits first.

To give you a brief idea of how many miles you can earn for every purchase, the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card and the Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card give 2X miles for every dollar spent.

The Capital One VentureOne Rewards Credit Card, on the other hand, gives you 1.25 miles per dollar spent.

Things to Consider Before Transferring Your Capital One Venture Miles

Keep in mind that every completed transfer is irreversible. By then, your miles will be subject to the terms and conditions of your chosen transfer partner.

But of course, no one wants to get their hard-earned miles stuck in a program that can’t be used. That’s why we suggest reading through the deals of every Capital One airline or hotel loyalty program before transferring your miles and having a flight in mind before you request a transfer.

From time to time, Capital One offers seasonal bonuses and promo rewards to their customers, which means you can transfer your miles and get a 20% to 30% bonus.

On a more technical note, you’d need to have a minimum of 1,000 miles to complete any transaction with a transfer partner. But don’t worry because they have a 100-mile increment after the first 1,000, which is lower than with other credit card providers.

Note that your account name on your Capital One account and airline or hotel loyalty program account must match for your transfers to be successful.

Final Thoughts

Every airline and hotel loyalty program offers exciting and great deals. Some may even hold discounts, bonuses and promo rewards on a seasonal basis.

Regardless, transferring your Capital One Venture Miles and availing of loyalty programs to reward yourself gives an incredible feeling. In addition, you won’t have to worry about using your credit card because you’ll get something in return in the near future.
